Underwhelmed--But Go See For Yourself

We expected to walk more and explore both the Village and SoHo. Our village tour focused mostly on MacDougal street and immediate environs and the SoHo part I think was when we crossed Houston street and walked couple short streets like Sullivan. We wanted to see more of the area and actually walk--there were so many streets to explore! After the tour we were able to walk on our own so the tour did help with our sense of direction. The food was OK at best save for a nice little morsel of smoked food. One Italian store in particular was spoken highly of and we went inside but we didn't get any food. People wanted to stop and buy something but we had to move on. I appreciated the tidbits of information we were offered about the area. I would advise to stay close to the leader so that you can hear everything, as sometimes the cars and trucks were louder than the voice. It was an interesting outing, and it seemed that most people loved it. However, don't be surprised if you want to stop and have lunch after the outing is over.

Yummy, often non-conventional tastings. Introduces you to unique shops and restaurants that you'd never discover on your own. Highly recommended for foodies and non-foodies alike!

Culture/History/Food/AMAZING

I booked this tour for our bridal party as a means to spend time together as a group before the madness of the wedding took hold completely (one last hurrah!). Our group does not often spend much time in this particular part of the City (even as locals) and found it quite enjoyable to take a tour. The tour guide we were assigned was Susan. Susan is quite knowledgeable regarding the shops and general area. We loved the examples of early architecture Susan pointed out and learning about the early history of the Village. I will note that Susan does focus heavily on the 1960s-1970s era. The tour does not particularly delve into contemporary events that have occurred in this area (1970-Present) which is unfortunate, however, we truthfully came for one reason--THE FOOD. Please let me assure you, THE FOOD IS AMAZING. It is unfortunate that our bride is lactose intolerant (and so I must note for our lactose intolerant friends that there is a considerable bit of cheese/dairy involved) however we all still had a great time and the sheer amount of food is MORE than enough for lunch (even without the dairy). From Indian to Cuban to French cuisine you will certainly enjoy the diversity of the samplings.

Perfect Way to Food Your Way Around NYC

We decided to do a Food Tour during our recent visit to NYC to experience various restaurants and areas of the City. Heart of the Village seemed a perfect way to See Greenich Village and we were so right. The guide, Susan was very friendly, remembered names, excited to show off the area and share some history and most of all food.

We first tasted grilled cheese and after one bite we all knew this was going to be a great tour of street food and sit down as well. Next stop was to Marsala for an Indian roll up with egg and spices. It was delicious and we topped it off with a mango lassi similar to a creamsicle melted - both very good. We had a taste of pizze pie with a wonderful crispy crust and fresh basil making it an outstanding margherita pizze. We toured past Washington Square and some tenement buildings getting some history of the area. We had a sit down for pasta which left us wanting to come back another for more items on the menu. We visited a coffee shop and smelled wonderful fresh coffee beans and made a visit to a Mexican restaurant for brisket tacos and a little margarita in a glass and not on a pizza this time. Yum. A sip of some wonderful teas and ending the tour with a macaron made for a perfect 3 hour adventure and left us wanting to come back and visit every establishment on the tour plus other shops. There were discount coupons as well to purchase some goods.

Thank you for an excellent sampling of food and history.

My boyfriend and I were so pleased with the tour. It was well timed and kept the pace moving. The tour guide did an excellent job of mingling and introducing people, so by the end we were a group of friends. The food was delicious and well-portioned for everyone. I highly recommend this tour!

This was my second time touring with this company, and I was not disappointed. It was a really fun time, and the food was great! Here's a rundown of the places we received tastings from: 1) Melt Kraft - American, had an excellent, pressed brisket sandwich with different cheeses and macaroni and cheese on it. 2) Manala Times - Indian restaurant, had a scrambled egg wrap with different spices and a mango smoothie 3) Monte's Trattoria - Italian restaurant, had pasta bolognese 4) Artichoke Basille's - Pizza, had basil pizza 5) Toloache Thompson - Hispanic, had brisket tacos 6) Sullivan's Street Tea and Spices - Tea company, had iced peach tea (ugh, I only like sweet tea lol) 7) Francois Payard Bakery - Sweet shop/cafe, had salted caramel macaroon. (Obviously, the tour company can change up the tastings at their discretion. I'm just sharing what my group had.) Our tour guide, Diana, knew a lot about NYC. Normally, I'm all about the food and not the history, but Diana made it interesting. I definitely recommend this tour!

Our tour guide was very knowledgable and super interesting. The food tastings were delicious and a nice variety. The time went so quick and could have even been longer.
