I've been to this area many times in my life and never realized all that was there. Our guide was great and the food was wonderful.

It was an excellent tour of a variety of foods offered in just a couple of blocks in Greenwich Village. A little heavy at times but very enjoyable.

A great way to spend 3 hours

My husband, my two boys who are approximately twenty years old and myself met Dianne our tour guide outside Murray's cheese shop in Greenwich. Dianne was good fun and made everybody welcome, even my two boys who felt awkward at the start soon relaxed and enjoyed themselves, especially once the food samples appeared. It wasa great way of meeting other people from different places with in the group. Dianne was very knowledgeable about the local area, which as a tourist we would never had time to gather ourselves. I wished I had taken the tour earlier on in my trip so that I could have benefited from everything I learnt about Greenwich. It certainly has made want to return to NY, I would definitely consider another tour.

A top adult walking tour

We often take walking tours in Europe...some group tours and some private. As native New Yorkers, we are always looking to discover our own city and this tour did not disappoint. This was our second food tour with Foods of NY, having taken the Chelsea Market tour and we were very satisfied. We were both pleased that neither of the tours was redundant with the other and with the mixture of history, food, and humor with which the tour was delivered. Michael was an excellent tour guide. We heard equally good things about the other tour guides from those on earlier and later tours. A must do!

Heather's Magical History Food Tour- a must do!
Sun, Sep 19, 10   11:30 AM WDG123 Male 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
Our tour guide Heather took us on a wonderful sight-seeing food tour of the West Village. We had about 16 in our group and there was a total of 8 individual food stops. First up was a great slice of thin crust NY style pizza from ‘Joe’s Pizza’. Right out of the oven, it was the perfect start. Here’s a few more food stops: The ‘Centro Vinoteca’ sat us down for a delicious portion of corn risotto, which I never had before. ‘Murray’s Cheese’ took us upstairs for another sit-down. We sampled three kinds of cheeses from around the world, olives, and some thinly sliced Italian salami. Very nice variety with some extra portions. ‘Milk and Cookie’s’ double chocolate cookie was straight out of the oven with melted chocolate all the way. A little later, I was one of the lucky ones to have two (gotta get some more of these) mini-cannolis from ‘Rocco’s Pastries’.

Heather has gave us great insight with her knowledge of the historical area and personal dining experiences in some of the local restaurants. In addition to the 8 stops we made, she talked about some other hot-spots. So, thanks to Heather, my self-tour continued (after the last-stop cannolis) with some great coffee from ‘Amy’s bread’, followed by my first gelato from ‘L’Art Del Gelato’. They let me mix the peach and grape flavors together. Wow, what a flavor discovery!

Our guide Heather was organized, articulate, and really knew her stuff! I understand she can sing and dance and I hope she makes it to Broadway one day. Lucky for us, our tour actually went past 3 hours. It was a truly great experience.

Thanks Heather.

Fabulous introduction to "Village" food & history

Entertaining, knowledgeable guide that gave you an excellent feel for Greenwich Village, it's past (and Pasta), and what it is now. We visited some delightful, small food outlets and shops and sampled some very good food. The visit to Chumley's speakeasy was a highlight.

Excellent Food and Information

the food was excellent and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about both the food, area, and other topics of interest that we discussed throughout.

i typically don't do tours simply because i am not a fan of "Tranditional" tours, however, this one was worth it and i'll be sure to do again (albeit different area) next time I'm in NYC.

Really enjoyed learning more about Greenwich Village. The tasting were great, especially loved the rice balls. I plan to go back with my husband and try one of the restaurants for dinner.

We were met promptly and corteously. Kurt the guide was polite and gave explanations but did not overdo it!

All places were clean and we were made welcome. It was a bit awkward in the first place 'Joes Pizza ' due to lack of room.

He seemed to enjoy himself and was good with a funny cross-section of people.

These were mostly American and they enjoyed it.

Best part of our trip. After it we spent a part of the day going round in more detail.

We would do it again. Kurt got the biggest tip all week.
