Second tour with FTONY

This was my second Food Tour and it was every bit as good as the first. I'm amazed at the quality of the tour guides used by this firm. They are extremely personable and attentive...and intimately knowledgable of the neighborhoods. As our guide, Annie, put it "I stay in mother hen mode during the tour." Their guides seem to be driven by a mission that "every person will feel as if they've been given a personal tour...and return safe and satisfied."

What I think is easily overlooked when booking these tours is the "culture" part. I'm a foodie and that was my primary interest. The restaurants and shops are all welcoming to our group...even during busy lunch hours, we did not seem to be a burden to them to be seated and served. The tour is well planned in regard to portions, variety and locations. It could be best described as "grazing" through the neighborhood which would be very hard to do on your own in the course of 3 hours. As for the culture part, in between food stops, you're given brief overviews of the history, architecture, demographics, and "vibe" of the neighborhoods. Depending on your primary interest (food or culture), you're given just enough information for a well-paced tour...yet enough to entice you to visit the neighborhood again on your own to eat, shop or just stroll (or order something special online if available after your return home).

Be prepared for a somewhat leisurely, but well-paced stroll, mostly on side streets through actual neighborhoods (a nice respite from the business districts). It's not unlikely to see a celebrity or two, as many of them live in these areas.

I took the Greenwich Village tour last summer, and would highly recommend either of them.

I had taken a previous Greenwich food tour that was very good and educational. My husband had not been on one so it was a must do. What a great one this was!! Our guide Annie was beyond amazing and informative. The places were awesome and really took us to eateries we didn't know about. Our daughter lived in the city a few years back for 5 years and yet had not been to any of these. We couldn't wait to take her for Mexican at the restaurant on our tour. I would highly recommend this tour and the others to those wanting a true New Yorker experience.

Our tour was awesome! Each food stop was delicious and uniquely interesting. Our tour was outstanding because of our wonderful tour guide, Anny! She was knowledgeable about food, architecture, history and culture of the Nolita/NoHo area. She was super energetic and just a sweet heart. My husband and I loved the tour and will definitely do another tour when we are in town.

This was my fourth Foods of New York tour, and it was just as wonderful as the other tours I have been on. The neighborhood was fun to wander and the foods we sampled were great! A good variety of restaurants and types of foods. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and just a delightful person!

What a fantastic way to get introduced with NYC. I highly recommend doing this first above all else to get a layout of a cool neighbourhood, it's history, and great restaurant/food recommendations. Our guide Anna was very friendly and knowledgeable too. A wonderful tour. Food was unreal too.
