Well worthwhile and great fun. Learned alot about the history of Greenwich Village while sampling well prepared, delicious foods of the locals (mostly Italian.

The setting, not the food, was the star

Tour guide was pleasant and knew her stuff. We especially enjoyed learning about the history and architecture of the Chelsea Market building, the trip inside Morimoto's restaurant, and the walk on the High Line. The food--well, not spectacular. The best things were the soup at the fish market and Sarabeth's biscuit. Could have done without the so-so cupcake and the hors d'oeuvre from the basket shop. Italian market food was not really to my taste, either, and the pasta at the final restaurant was OK but not great. As advertised, there was plenty of food, and I didn't go hungry. We did the Greenwich Village food tour a couple of years ago and the food on that was much more interesting and better tasting--so maybe it's all about the choices in the area? Again, go for the history and lower your expectations on the food, and you'll enjoy the trip!

My sister and I took two more food tours with them this October, adding to our two tours last year in New York. We love them!! Not only for food, but for the history of the area and the great stories from the tour guides. We have had excellent guides, plenty of food and good timing on bathroom breaks! We only have the Chinatown tour left to do.....maybe next year!!

Great way to get acquainted with Greenwich Village

We had been to New York City several times but had not spent time in Greenwich Village, so I went online to looking for something to do and found this tour. We had been on a similiar tour in Sacramento Ca. and loved it, so we signed up. We were again very pleased, the tour guide was a special delight all by herself, she was very witty and made us all laugh and at the same time shared historic stories about the mostly Italian community. We had tastes at each location and we were stuffed by the end, we especaially enjoyed the olive oil store with lots of wonderful tastes. Very good way to spend the afternoon.

Darryl provided a great combination of history, humor, and delicious food sampling. The weather perfect and the tour moved along at an appropriate pace. Participants were from around the world, and across the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a wonderful mix.

Enjoyed this tour but liked the Greenwich village tour better. The guide makes all the difference and while ours was good, she was not great. Would definitely still do another tour with this company.

I have been on every tour Food of New York Tours offers (bar the new Nolita one - that's next) and whether I join visitors or I suggest to them - it is a must do for anyone visiting or living NYC. What better way to bring together food, walking and local history - and for a reasonable price? Having just done my 2nd Greenwich tour about 2 years apart - there were new stops and learnings. So I say great for a first time and great for a repeat!

I loved every minute. Great tour guide: witty, super organized, sensitive to the group's stamina level, great knowledge of the material. And the food was terrific! I'm planning to sign up for all the other food tours put on by this company.
