The tour is great for foodies. A lot of information is provided above and beyond the food as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour, lots of food samples for the money along with history of the area.

My husband and I enjoyed the tour with Kurt. He took us everywhere, many places not on the tour, and fed us more things than were mentioned in the tour description.

Terrific Tour
Mon, Jun 22  10:00 AM Brucetramp Unspecified Unspecified Unspecified Unspecified
Our guide, Curt, was terrific - he had endless energy and lots of information about food and the city, with some gossip and verbal recipes thrown in for good measure.

He was fantastic at remembering everyone's name, too - don't know how he did it, but it worked.

It was a great tour, especially the hotel roof it ended up on at the end - we stayed there awhile afterward for a drink, and it was lovely and cool on a very hot day in the city.

The only negative is that Curt was not aware that I'm veggie.

When we were deciding which tour to book (this will be our third FONY tour), the person I spoke with said that, even though it was the meatpacking tour, they would arrange for some veggie alternatives for me.

Curt was able to do that after I mentioned it, but it would have been more considerate for the shops if they'd known ahead of time.

Other than that, like the previous tours, it was informative, the perfect length, with a great guide and plenty of food to sample.

I highly recommend this tour for a great introduction to a part of town that never been on my itinerary. Had I had time, I would have selected a second tour.

Second tour with FTONY

This was my second Food Tour and it was every bit as good as the first. I'm amazed at the quality of the tour guides used by this firm. They are extremely personable and attentive...and intimately knowledgable of the neighborhoods. As our guide, Annie, put it "I stay in mother hen mode during the tour." Their guides seem to be driven by a mission that "every person will feel as if they've been given a personal tour...and return safe and satisfied."

What I think is easily overlooked when booking these tours is the "culture" part. I'm a foodie and that was my primary interest. The restaurants and shops are all welcoming to our group...even during busy lunch hours, we did not seem to be a burden to them to be seated and served. The tour is well planned in regard to portions, variety and locations. It could be best described as "grazing" through the neighborhood which would be very hard to do on your own in the course of 3 hours. As for the culture part, in between food stops, you're given brief overviews of the history, architecture, demographics, and "vibe" of the neighborhoods. Depending on your primary interest (food or culture), you're given just enough information for a well-paced tour...yet enough to entice you to visit the neighborhood again on your own to eat, shop or just stroll (or order something special online if available after your return home).

Be prepared for a somewhat leisurely, but well-paced stroll, mostly on side streets through actual neighborhoods (a nice respite from the business districts). It's not unlikely to see a celebrity or two, as many of them live in these areas.

I took the Greenwich Village tour last summer, and would highly recommend either of them.

Great way to see Chelsea Market

My adult son and I went on this tour. It is our second food tour. Our tour guide Darrell was funny and full of great stories about the Market. The food was good and a great variety. We were walking for about three hours with chances to sit occasionally. We also went to the Hiline Park and walked thru the Meat Market area. I would go on another food tour when I am in NYC.

Heart of the Village tour

We really enjoyed our Heart of the Village tour. We picked that one because of the variety of foods available, and we weren't disappointed. I had read other reviews that said the were upset because they didn't get enough to eat, but our tour we were all STUFFED. We enjoyed the food and restaurants, as well as the cultural information. I would only recommend that the total tour time be reduced. Ours was about 3.5 hours, I'm thinking it would be better closer to 2.5 hours. Overall a great time was had by all!

Great experience!

This is my second tour to Greenwich. I brought my daughter and 13 year old granddaughter. Although a little skeptical when I told them what we were doing, they found the tour to be everything that I told them it would be. Our guide was very good and so knowledgeable about the food, area and other NYC trivia. Our daughter is returning to NYC in two weeks and has booked the Chinatown tour during that visit.

Could have picked better food experiences...
Fri, Jun 5  12:30 PM mshomos Female 60-69 Unspecified Unspecified
Barri, the tour guide, was friendly and knowledgeable. However, the food places that were picked were eh! Started out at a grilled cheese place. Grilled cheese? With all the great places in NY? We also went to an Italian sit-down restaurant and had the worst bolognese I have ever had. It was so salty, we could barely eat it. One of the stops was an Indian place where we had a lassi drink in a tiny cup. I don't consider this "food". There were 7 places in all and I probably wouldn't go back to any of them.
