Best Done in the Spring or Fall

A walking tour of Greenwich Village while it's 105 degrees outside. Tough, very tough. But, the food was fantastic. Would have been nice to include more wine tastings. Nice tidbits of info on Greenwich Village that you could probably have gotten by Googling. If you are looking for info/background on the different types of restaurants and other eateries in the village, take the tour.

We really enjoyed the tour even though it was really hot out! Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Our kids really liked the food , my husband and I thought it was soso. But what really made it fun was learning the history of Greenwich village and learning a lot of new things. The free gelato coupon at the end was the best and we all became fans of something new!

This was my first food tour and was highly recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint. Our tour guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and it made one want to go back to each store for more!! I didn't want the tour to end. Planning my next food tour....can't wait.

The best time we have had in NYC...

We visit the city regularly with family and friends, but, we have never made it into Greenwich. This tour gave us history, culture, community and food. Raheem was a knowledgeable and a great story-teller. He made a connection with each person in the tour group. We did go back for dinner the next night to one of the places we tasted. This was 1 tour we all unanimously agreed was the best time we had in NYC.

This was our second time on a food tour with this group and it was once again a highlight of our trip -- which says a lot in a city with so many highlights. Our guide, Rahim, was aweseome! Not only did he know tons about food, the neighbourhood and its history, he was a great speaker and a fun guide. Plus, the food was great -- I'll never, ever forget that Monte's cheesecake.

I heartily recommend this experience!

Had a great time!!!!!

We all had a great time on this tour. Our tour guide Raheem (sorry if it is spelled wrong) was very knowledgeable of the area, made great recommendations and was very relaxed. He took his time and never rushed us from one venue to the next. All of the tastings we indulged on were fantastic. Each one was unique and not your run of the mill fair. They all left a lasting impression, but I think the two that stand out the most for us were the bolognese and the ricotta cheese cake. We certainly did not walk away hungry. The cultural side of the tour beyond the food was quite interesting. We found it very easy to put ourselves in the past with all of the great writers and musicians of the different times and wonder what it was like. Greenwich village and Soho is such a great area of the city. We can't wait to go back. We have already recommended this tour to our friends. Hopefully they will take our advice. The next time I'm in the city I hope to do the Chelsea and Meatpacking District tour. Hopefully it will be sooner rather that later.

Our tour guide Curt Upton made this tour a great experience. His commitment, humour and "team building" ability made the day!

Nice selection of restaurants too.

I especially enjoyed the history of the area that our guide included. The more the better. The information on the food establishments was nice too. It gave a flavor to the area.

A wonderful outing

This was a wonderful way to learn of the architecture, geography, culture and especially the local cuisine. Our guide was enthusiastic, knowledgable, friendly and professional. The six tastings provided a wonderful cross-section of foods available in this Greenwich village neighborhood. At the top of the list were Havana and LaPalma where we hope to return for an evening of dining. We were blessed with wonderful weather for the tour, which, I'm sure helps with the overall impression. Still, we went back the next day, which was gloomy and wet, and stopped at Murray's, Rocco's and Fiacco's, filling out trunk for the ride home. Loved the tour, would recommend to anyone (and already have). We look forward to trying another tour in a different neighborhood.

I enjoyed the tour very much. The only complaint I would have was that when the tour was over I couldn't find X&O sauce! I tried a Chinese grocery store but that was impossible.

Will definately take another tour.

One of the best things we did in New York!

Our guide Cindy was witty and funny and knew her stuff! We learnt heaps of fun stuff and our bellies ended up full of some amazing authentic Village treats. We will definitely take more Foods of NY tours when we come back next year.

DO THIS TOUR!!!!!!

Great guide, terrific food, nothing too scary

We are adventurous eaters who wanted to be somewhat challenged and exposed to new foods. The food we had was delicious, but not as challenging as we had hoped. Given that, I can cheerfully say that more cautious eaters will find this tour just about right for them. The guide did a great job of keeping everything on track, organized, and fun, including lots of information about the history of Chinatown and tidbits about places we might want to go back to (we did go back the next day and had even more great food). If you're afraid of sea cucumber with shrimp seed, don't worry -- you won't get it on this tour. You'll get a delicious Peking duck, some savory sea-influenced dishes, and fresh greens eaten sitting down at a couple of good places, and then add in some really fun snacks from sidewalk shops. Thanks to Todd and Rakim for a fine job. Next time, we'll engage you privately and ask for the really authentic, scary stuff!
