Best of the Best Food Tour in NYC
Thu, Oct 3, 13   10:30 AM willowgrace Female 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
The tour was very informative, entertaining and gave a wonderful tasting of the Chelsea Market Area and food. Kurt Upton, the tour guide was "marvelous". His ability to remember everyone's name was remarkable. He made the tour extra special and I would recommend people to be sure they ask for him when taking a tour. We would definitely take a food tour again. Our friends, who live in NYC, are now interested in going.

We found it a culturally and historically factual tour. Great knowledge of the area from the guide was particularly significant to the culture of the area. Walking Greenwich village was particularly charming as was sampling the the food got the taste buds going.

I would recommend it to anyone I know. The guide was very knowledgeable, and provided me with a new perspective on the Village. Food was gret too.

The tour guide was extremely funny and friendly. She provided great history and interesting stories to the Meat Packing District. Further, the food was amazingly tasty which we enjoyed a lot.

A special experience in New York which takes places in the heart of Greenwich Village. This was our first food tour in this area and would definitely do another. Bert was our guide and is "personality plus" and very knowledgeable about the area. We not only had great food, but experienced more of what NY is all about, rather than just the tourist areas. The tour included not only a great variety of food, but also some history of the area. Our group consisted of a diverse mix and was fun for all. I would highly recommend this activity to all and will definitely do another on my next trip to NY.

Exceeded our expectations

We did not know what to expect on this food tour - having done nothing like it before .... we went into it with some trepidation. But the whole tour, the information, the style, the enthusiasm (to name but a few) made it a great experience. We had been to NYC before but, now feel like we really know a small corner in a hell of a lot of detail and can recommend to our British friends who come to visit your city. Great Stuff!!

It would not be an exaggeration to say that the food tour of Greenwich Village has been a highlight of our New York holiday. We were welcomed by our guide, Sephra, who possessed a great sense of humor, a clear gift for communication and some real and interesting information. (Our experience tells us not all guides in NY have these attributes.)

Our group included a number of other Australians which contributed to a light hearted and fun tour. The food was a delight, highlighted in my opinion with the wine bar at Centro Vinoteca and the starting pizza at Joe's. However there was not a weak moment on the tour and we enjoyed Milk and Cookies, Murray's and O & Co as well as all other stops. The food was delicious and of sufficient variety to keep the interest levels up. There was also plenty of it.

The tour also included other interesting sites and buildings; my 18 year old was thrilled to see the 'Friends' house.

Thank you Food Tous. This tour was much anticipated by us and you did not disappoint. I returned to Greenwich Village the following day and spent some time walking and visiting various stores.

We highly recommend this tour. We just hope you have the pleasure of being hosted by Sephra or someone with a similar gift.

Enthusiastic tour guide

I enjoyed the tour and I appreciated our guide's knowledge of the Chelsea market area and of food preparation and sales. The only comment that I would make is that the food samples given to the group were extremely fatty and not very healthy. The last item, which involved oxtails in an Italian dish, was not very popular as many people did not want to eat oxtails.

The food tours are fantastic!

I have been on 2 other of your food tours. They all have been great, and I have recommended them to a lot of people. I did not like the food on this one as much as the others. I definitely don't think you should serve the cupcake first. I also want to say that Curt was fantastic!

I will probably be doing the Chinatown one next!

Thanks for offering such a fun experience.

The tour not only gives you a great food tasting experience , it also gives you an insight into the architecture and history of different NYC neighborhoods. Our guide was terrific and really knew her stuff!

This was my second tour and I can't wait to do the rest. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this activity to anyone visiting NY and also locals. Can't wait to come back!

GREAT VALUE

Robin, our guide, was highly knowledgeable, articulate, funny, and entertaining. All food stops were excellent and much better (with larger portions) than expected. Not a lot of walking is involved, and all stops are close to the meeting point. A perfect way to spend three hours and to discover some great eating places and shops.

A special thanks to Robin.

As a baby boomer, my memories of Greenwich Village were of smokey coffee houses with great music and poetry. Now fourty years later, I enjoyed the opportunity to learn about the neighborhoods history, architecture, and great restraunts. The coffee houses, great music and poetry are still there, but now we get to enjoy so much more. Great tour!
