Food tour good but canned

While our tour guide knew a lot about the topics and was lively, I felt as if we were on an assembly line. His presentation, down to the jokes, was completely canned, almost memorized. Maybe that's inevitable. He worked very hard to get to know the names of the people on the tour, which was good, but the way he used those was hokey. I did like the architectural information about the neighborhood. The food, while delicious in quality and generous in quantity, was pretty much some form of cheese and grain in every place. I would have liked to understand more deeply the food history of the area. We enjoyed ourselves, but I wouldn't go back.

Fun in a place that would otherwise be confusing

My friend and I loved the tour. I'm an ex-New Yorker who doesn't take tours, but I was glad I did. I'm no longer used to crowds, and I probably would have walked through the Market as quickly as possible if I had been on my own. Our leader, Bob, was charming and well informed -- and the information he shared really gave us a sense of place. The snacks were delicious. The tour was definitely worth the cost.

Darryl was our amazing guide on this fabulous journey through Chelsea Market and the history of the Meatpacking District. We had plenty of delicious food to taste (and the presentation of each was wonderful!) while getting backstories about each vendor. Darryl is an extremely funny man and made the whole afternoon just a lovely experience. Don't think twice - book this tour, you'll be so happy you did!

This is our third Foods of NY tour - Chelsea, Nolita, and this. All 3 were wonderful tours, good food, good guides, all rated 5s, but Sephra is absolutely wonderful. (She tells us she always does the 11am tour on her working days.) With her fabulous personality and humor we hardly noticed it was a yucky rainy day. She is hysterical. Just enough history and talk about the neighborhood, lots of light-hearted humor, mixed with 6 small bites (e.g. a risotto ball bigger than a golf ball; slice of pizza) + 2 desserts. The best way to do lunch in NYC!

Bert was very knowledgeable, having lived in Chinatown for several yrs. He was enthusiastic and seemed to have good rapport with the shop owners. Food was very good and mire than enough.

This is the Third time I have done the Greenwich Village Food tour. It did not disappoint! My friends and I did the tour on a Sunday afternoon. Three of us had dietary needs (vegetarian and dairy allergies). The guide was very thoughtful in making sure they they had substitutes for any dishes they were unable to have. Our guide was very enthusiastic and ensured everyone had a great time. Thanks again for a great day!!
