Summer Solstice Stained Glass Window Tour San Francisco, CA N/A - Info & Tickets
Grace Cathedral is the Cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of California, and an iconic house of prayer for all - locally, nationally and internationally.  Our inclusive congregation consists of seekers and believers, embraces innovation and open-minded conversation, and tries to put its beliefs into action in all aspects of life.  The cathedral is a beautiful, sacred space, and our liturgy and well-known music program (including a men and boys choir) attract many to the four Sunday services and daily services.  We host cultural events in the visual arts, music and drama often in partnership with other major cultural institutions of the city, civic conversations on key issues of the day, and an excellent and wide-ranging educational program and flagship Forum series.  Cathedrals have long been places of pilgrimage and all of us at Grace Cathedral are ready to welcome you among us whenever you are able to visit.

The history of Grace Cathedral extends back to 1849, when little Grace Chapel was built in Gold Rush San Francisco. A more impressive structure was completed in 1862 but was destroyed by the fire following the 1906 earthquake. That same fire gave rise to the cathedral we see today.

A very good in-depth tour of the cathedral. They do have volunteer docents that will give you a free tour. However, this tour is much more comprehensive and takes you to places that the free volunteer tour cannot access.

A very extensive tour led by a knowledgeable staff member. Everything in the cathedral is a treasure - the windows, the art, the organ, the vestments, and the building itself. Highly recommended!

I enthusiastically recommend the venue. It is beautiful and contains some wonderful artwork. Everyone was very welcoming and gracious. As an atheist I'm often uncomfortable in religious settings but no one was pushy or preachy at all. We saw a couple areas that are normally off limits to the public, and learned about the history of the church and the city. According to their website there is a docent tour offered MWF based on volunteer availability. If I go again, I will do that and make a reasonable donation instead of taking the "Grand" tour - $25/person is pretty steep!
