Great way to see different aspects of the city

Boat tour was beautiful, got to see the sites along the waterway, up close view of the bridge. Carriage tour was relaxing way to see some homes and learn some interesting facts. Definitely worth the money, highly enjoyable.

Great tour but over crowded.

We took the cruise and the boat was over crowed, people don;t have even where to sit to enjoy the cruise. The history part was great. I know is business, but they didn't take in consideration how comfortable people will be in a pay tour.

Who knew how beneficial we were to the slaves?

I just never realized how lucky the slaves were that we owned them. According to the guides at the plantation, the slaves really didn't have it all that bad. They _only_ worked about 10 hrs a day then the rest of the time was their own and they could do as they wished. Their living quarters are surrounded by beautiful trees and lush grassy lawns. They only got whipped if they tried to run away or refused to work hard enough.

What a crock. That plantation was a horrible place to visit because of all the rhetoric. Then we 'signed' up for the tour of the mansion and the tour guide kept asking if we had any questions, when we asked she said she didn't know and was pretty rude toward some of the guests. If you wanted the 'wagon' ride instead of signing up for it, you just had to watch for one and hurry before the rest of the people ran over there. It was a mess. We just ended up leaving, oh, and when following the exit signs the gate was locked up so we had to drive all the way back to the front and leave that way. All in all, really still a racist attitude, disorganized, and not very pleasant to visit.

The Captain of the boat was great. Friendly and Funny. It was a nice little tour and informative. It helped us figure out what we wanted to see while there. The staff weren't so friendly, but they were pretty busy trying to work the snack bar. Overall this was a good idea.

The buggy ride was out last thing to do before heading out of town. It was really hot but since we got there semi early, we didn't have to wait long. The coachman was nice and had his script memorized well. Parking was ~7.00 if I remember right. There were a few other horse and buggy companies crammed right there together but this one seemed much nicer and everyone was really friendly. It wasn't totally what I had in mind for a horse and buggy ride as there were something like 10 of us on there. I was hoping for a bit smaller group. This makes it a touristy ride around downtown instead of a nice more romantic type ride. You can rent a private buggy but I didn't check into that part. I never once heard them asking for tips here.

I still think it was a great idea to purchase the combo tickets. We really had no idea what we were going to do so this was a big help. I just think it would be better choosing a different combo.

Something to do

The tour is pretty cool, if you are a history buff it is something you will definitely enjoy, and if you are just somebody who wants to ride around and look at stuff it will be enjoyable as well. The guide seemed pretty knowledgeable and was pretty funny as well. Overall I enjoyed myself and would recommend the tour to anyone staying in Charleston.

Harbour Tour was great...Carriage ride not so much

While we loved the harbour tour, we cannot say the same for the carriage ride vendor. There were a WHOLE slew of issues related to poor customer service BUT the tour guide (Bob W) made up for the lack of customer service from staff!!

I would recommend the following for your site and for the carriage ride vendor:

1. Have something on the website regarding parking. There's free parking but we didn't know about it and paid for parking.

2. Have something on the website regarding holiday tour schedules.

3. The vendor needs to better train their employees to handle issues. We pre-paid for our tour but was told that it's first come and first serve. If someone pre-pays, there should be some mechanism to schedule a tour - that is, make reservations.

4. The vendor needs to keep change on hand for customers who need to put change in the parking meters.

Personally, I will never do a combo tour again. While it's convenient to purchase them's not worth the hassle of thinking because we had pre-paid we could just walk up to the carriage and take the tour. The entire ordeal left a bad taste in my mouth.

Pretty good, though this plantation isn't the best

I really appreciated the option to book all three *highly* desirable outings at the same time. The carriage ride is the BEST part. It's great. The harbour ride is alright...sorta boring, to be honest, but I'm from Seattle, so I'm used to more dramatic landscapes. The most interesting thing is seeing dolphins around the boat. Good if you've got time and feel like sitting around. The plantation was pretty disappointing for me, because I'm a preservationist: having a house built from 1936 felt very inauthentic, relative to the experience I was seeking. And no one told me until I got on the house tour! It seems like they try to avoid advertising the fact that, while it's "the most photographed plantation house in America," it's NOT really a plantation house! It was built by a Canadian who bought the place in the 20th century! Anyway, the grounds out there are pretty, so if you don't care if it's a real plantation house or not, you could go. But if you're looking for a real plantation property, perhaps look at one of the other options in the area. It's true that the ticket you buy here is all-inclusive for the whole plantation property: you don't have to buy different segments of tours and access. Depends on what you're looking for, if that sounds good to you or not.

We went to Charleston for our anniversary and took the Harbor tour and Carriage Ride and had a great time. The Captain of the harbor tour recognized our anniversary and congratulated us over the intercom.

Cruise was enjoyable, parking was abysmal
Thu, Aug 21, 14   7:00 PM gilsco Male 30-39 Local Family Without Children
The cruise was everything we hoped for: Great live music and tasty Home Team BBQ. However the parking was so bad it soured the evening.

Normally parking for an event is not noteworthy, but when you arrive 40 minutes ahead of time and still must get creative--if not illegal--while parking a small car it takes something away from the experience.

Worse was leaving the parking lot. We were about middle-of-the-pack disembarking, but it still took nearly an hour to travel several hundred yards. I suspect this had something to do with there only being a single parking attendant and gate.

In summary: the cruise, music, and food were all enjoyable, but find alternate travel arrangements to get to and from the dock.

Plantation Tour was great, skip the Harbor Tour
Sun, Aug 10, 14   3:30 PM Lafreed Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We really enjoyed the Plantation Tour, but found the Harbor Tour to be very boring. We did not get close enough to most of the landmark's to actually see them. It was a rainy day, which probably made the trip worse, but there are no refunds for rain.

loved the plantation, boat tour was "ok"
Sat, Aug 9, 14   3:30 PM bgillet Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
boat tour showed all the expected sights, and scenery was beautiful, ride was wonderful but captain's dialogue was very scripted and rather dull. overall, was great to get out on the water and get a breeze in the summer heat and humidity, but his seemingly memorized speech could use a bit of personality.

Boone Hall plantation was wonderful. every tour guide was better than the last. our trolley tour was great, the talk on the slave street transitioned from a chat with the guide and our family to a presentation to a large group as more people joined in. the house tour was lovely, and the guide even helped my sister when she got overheated. however, the best part was the Gullah culture presentation in the last slave cabin. that woman was was their homemade ice cream! definitely recommend, whether you go as part of this combo or just alone!

Combo Tour

The harbor tour was fun. The carriage ride was excellent and definitely offered the most Charleston history. Our guide was wonderful, funny, and very well-informed. I would recommend it. We were there on the weekend and they were quite busy. Everyone was seated very tightly together so it was not comfortable. A weekday would probably be better.

I was slightly disappointed that the 9:30am tour did not go into more detail (or go past) regarding Rainbow Row and the Battery. Besides that, glad we went! And would recommend!
