Discontinued Cruise on the Carolina Queen

We enjoyed the summer cruise and the staff was friendly but the murder portion was lacking; the actors were on different floors of the boat as well as the passengers so no one knew what the story was or what was going on. Disappointing.

We recently purchased the Harbor Tour and Plantation Tour combination. We enjoyed the Harbor Tour a great deal and would recommend it highly. However, the Boone Plantation was a big let-down and waste of money. You only tour 3 rooms of a house that was built in 1936 and very little is done in the way of active growing on what is advertised as a working Plantation. The only bright spot on this tour was the presentation by Gullah Joe about the Gullah culture and language development. His presentation was informative and entertaining.

My mom, sister, and I went. We loved the carriage tour. It was excellent. The tour guide was informative and took us on a scenic house route. We loved it. The harbour tour was not to our satisfaction. The tour guide had a recorded-like voice that was not entertaining nor easy to follow. It seemed not real or enthusiastic. The boat was way too far out to view any of the houses or other sites the man was describing. The facts were not the most intersting. The tour also was a bit too long. We were really dissapointed. I would not recommend the harbour tour-however I would STRONGLY recommend the carriage tour. The combo pack was a great idea though, we just wish the harbour part was more worth the price we paid.

it was a fun and easy way to see Ft. Sumpter and a relaxing journey on the boat. The staff on the boat really seemed to like their jobs and taking care of the passengers! My husband and I would highly recommend this tour!

Tour would have been more pleasant with a few fewer people. There were folks wandering around,

complaining about not having seats.

We were a group of ten local women who chose to celebrate a birthday on this cruise. Everyone of us were extremely pleased with the music, food, cruise and crew! Everything exceeded our expectations! It was a fun, lighthearted evening with the backdrop of extremely good blues! How lucky can you get to have this right under our noses!!

A "must do" when visiting Charleston

Both the Harbour Tour and Carriage Tour were entertaining and informative. Both guides were extremely knowledgable and looked and acted like this was not just a job, but a passion. Both tours allowed ample space to be comfortably seated.

I would recommend both of these tours and suggest to do them early in your vacation to take advantage of the knowledge you acquire and to plan future outings accordingly.

Good food and service, but boat needs lots of work

The food was O.K. Nothing special for the price. Service was great. The boat looks like out of scrap yard! It really needs a lot of work! If I have seen a better picture of the boat, I will never had book the trip[!
Charleston Harbor Tours responded:
Thank you for booking the Sunset Blues and BBQ Cruise with Charleston Harbor Tours and for taking the time to write a review. I'm not sure what you were expecting as far the vessel, The Carolina Queen, but we constantly work on her and perform maintenance, paint, clean, etc... The vessel is very clean and in great shape. She is a bit older as the look we are going for is the classic riverboat style. As you can see, from our many reviews of past events, most guests enjoy the vessel and appreciate the nostalgia.

Harbor Tour & Carriage Ride Was Wonderful!

I am not a history buff and found it to be boring in school but these tours were anything but boring. Imagine sailing down the Carolina coast with a refreshing drink in hand, taking in the sights while the narrator teaches you about Charleston's rich history. It was truly an enjoyable, educational, and relaxing experience! Bring sun screen! And if you don't like the heat beating down on you, you can go downstairs in the air conditioned room, have a seat, and enjoy the tour in air conditioned comfort.

I really enjoyed the carriage ride. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and answered all of our questions. This tour was truly a learning experience in that we learned about Charleston's war hero's and passed inches away from where they lived. Some of the things we learned were astounding! You really must take this ride!

The seats were very comfortable too.

Disappointed By Processing Fee
Mon, Nov 14, 11   11:30 AM stumpdan Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
I was extremely disappointed that customers using the phone or Internet to purchase tickets are charged a $2.00 processing fee, while those purchasing tickets from the stand are charged nothing. It should be the same for all customers!

The cruise was very pleasant and the band was very good. The food was a little cold, but overall a nice time.
