The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens is one of the world's great cultural centers. Located in San Marino, CA this nonprofit institution was originally the private estate of Henry Huntington (1850-1927), an exceptional businessman who built a financial empire that included railroad companies, utilities, and real estate.

Huntington was also a man of vision - with a special interest in books, art, and gardens. During his lifetime, he amassed the core of one of the finest research libraries in the world, established a splendid art collection, and created an array of botanical gardens with plants from every geographic range.
Among the highlights of the European and American Art Collections are Gainsborough’s The Blue Boy, Mary Cassatt's Breakfast in Bed, and furniture by Greene & Greene.  The Library's treasures include a Gutenberg Bible, an illuminated manuscript of Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, Shakespeare's "First Folio," and literary manuscripts.
Explore more than 120 acres, including a dozen specialized gardens: the Japanese, Rose, Desert, Camellia, Shakespeare, and Children’s gardens.  The newest is a classical Chinese Garden, the Garden of Flowing Fragrance, Liu Fang Yuan.
A day spent enjoying the cultural treasures of The Huntington wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Rose Garden Tea Room, set amid acres of sweet smelling blooms, or the Chinese Garden Tea Shop for some delicious Chinese fare served on the terrace overlooking the lake.
