Guide was great!. Food was just OK, the price was not equal to the amount or quality of food.

Milwaukee Food Tours responded:
We are glad you enjoyed the guide and hope you liked the history along the way! Thank you for your feedback regarding the food. We are always discussing ways to improve each route and we don't hesitate to adjust food or stops. This will be brought up in the next meeting to see what we could do differently. We would love to see you again!

My Husband and I are locals and our friends are from Virginia. They loved the tour and KIM our tour guide.. She was wonderful. We truly enjoyed being a tourist in our own town. We are anxious to try the other tours.

Milwaukee Food Tours responded:
Thanks for coming and bringing your guests. All of our guides bring a unique experience to the tours and we hope you try another route. If you liked the Historic Third Ward, try our Pizza Bus tour. It goes all around the city and ends with gelato. Just be sure to bring your appetite!

Fun experience, something different to do. Very small portions of food and not enough time to order drinks, but still very fun.

Milwaukee Food Tours responded:
Glad you had fun and thanks for your feedback. We try to coordinate the tours with the restaurant staff to have time for drinks but it can be a challenge at times. One solution we suggest is trying our Historic Bar tour. The drinks are all pre-poured and lined up like a beer army when you arrive at each stop. We hope you give it a try. Cheers!

Great food with an energetic guide

All of the food was fantastic and the tour ended at one of my favorite restaurants. The tour took a little more than 2.5 hours but there wasn't a dull moment.

Thanks for coming and for your review. We agree, there is never a dull moment with Marie. All of our guides bring a bit of entertainment along with the food and history. If you want a really interesting experience, try our Historic Bar tour. The guide plus some colorful bar staff will make you want to call a barstool your home!

Recommended even if you are a local

I was looking for something different to do with my friends. The dinner and movie or shopping gets old. This was a fun way to get dinner at different places and learn about the history of the city. I had been to a few of the restaurants that were on the tour but had never eaten the dishes that were served during this tour. The portion sizes were pretty substantial and we were full at the end of the tour. Our guide - Robert - was very knowledgeable about the third ward and it was fascinating to learn about it. Overall, I would recommend it for a date night or a fun night out with your friends.

I did the 3rd ward food tour with my mom as a gift to her for Mothers Day and it was a personal tour for two! We were the only ones! Our tour guide Lee was fantastic and gave us some really interesting history of the city that neither one of us knew about. The stops were great, the food was delicious and the company was wonderful. We are already debating where and when our next tour should be. Thanks for a great evening out on the town! And keep Lee around, he's so charismatic! :)

Local review, not enough variety/flavor in food.

I'm a suburbanite who comes down to the third ward a couple times a year. The overall tour itself was good and the tour guide provided some interesting facts about the city and it's food history. The pace and size of the tour was good as well. The food on the tour left something to be desired.

We started out with a chicken noodle soup, which doesn't really stand for anything and kind of had us questioning what type of food tour it was going to be from the get-go. We moved on to a piece of margherita pizza, which was decent, but tasted average when comparing to other margherita pizzas I've had. Next we had a very good steak slider and a beer. This was probably the best "food" of the food tour. Next, we had a chicken shish-kabob with rice at a nice restaurant, but it lacked any memorable flavor. Lastly was a stop for a small scoop of whiskey ice cream, which was ok, but didn't really appeal to me or anyone in my group.

The tour itself moved at a comfortable pace and was informative to the history. It seemed like the restaurants had their most basic dishes prepared and just wanted to move us in and out. It would have been nice to get a 30 second presentation from each restaurant on the dish and why it was special to them. The fact that you couldn't say anything special about the preparation of the dishes served at 2-3 of the places (chicken noodle, pizza, chicken kabob) would cause me to not take a tour again.

Milwaukee Food Tours responded:
We appreciate your feedback and thank you for the detailed review of the issues. We are regularly evaluating our routes to find the most cohesive and overall tasty experience. Choosing the food is one of our biggest challenges since we are trying to satisfy so many palettes. We are currently addressing this with our staff and looking for ways to incorporate more unique or localized flavor on the Third Ward route. Thank you again for your feedback!

Something Unique Even For Locals

I often go on tours when I am vacationing in other cities, but this was a great way to learn more about the history of my own city while enjoying some delicious food as well. Karen was a great guide. We made five stops and the food at each place was delicious. This was a great way for my boyfriend and I to try something unique to celebrate our 5 year dating anniversary.

Milwaukee Food Tours responded:
Thanks for sharing your anniversary with us! We have learned so much about our city and love to share it with locals and visitors alike. Maybe for your 10 year anniversary you could try our Walker's Point Dine around. It has lots of gourmet stops at some intimate restaurants perfect for a romantic occasion.

We really enjoyed the tour - especially our guide

We really enjoyed the tour - both our guide and the choice in restaurants and food were fantastic. We will look into tours in the future.

Milwaukee Food Tours responded:
Glad to hear you enjoyed all aspects of your tour. We believe the guides are just as important as the food in order to lead a fun tour. Though you had fun with Karen, I'd say all of our guides offer something new and exciting in their own way. Another great route for food with seasoned guides would be our Brady Street route. Try it if you like all things yummy!
