What happens if it rains?
Our duck tour will run rain or shine. In the event of rain, we will simply roll down our weatherproof curtains and go on with the show. Pirate Duck Tours usually run in light rain and other moderate weather conditions. Rain in this area usually passes through fast and sometimes it can be raining in one place and sunny in another! So if the forecast calls for rain, it probably won't affect the tour. In the rare event that a tour is canceled due to weather, we will allow you to reschedule your tour subject to availability, or receive credit for a future event.
How many people does the duck hold?
The duck is a state-of-the-art late model Hydraterra that holds up to 49 people.
Is the tour narrated?
Yes, the tour is narrated by our pirates and mermaids aboard! They will share some of their favorite stories and plenty of facts about the sights you see along the way. Our crew is very knowledgeable and passionate about their pirate duties but will gladly share with you the location of many of Miami and Miami Beach treasures, restaurants, fun places and maybe even some secrets!
Is the duck wheelchair and handicap accessible?
The Pirate Duck has nine steps, so all participants must be able to bear weight on their legs and have good balance. If you have limited mobility and are able to climb aboard the Pirate Duck with the help of our crew, we are able to store wheelchairs at the Duck stop, which is guarded during the tour.
Can I bring food and drinks with me?
You are welcome to bring sodas, water and snacks aboard the Pirate Duck. We just ask that you leave any wrappings or empty bottles in the garbage bins aboard the Pirate Duck prior to exiting the vehicle. You can also purchase beverages and snacks at nearby Surf Style Store (across the public restrooms) prior to departure.
Is seating assigned?
No, seating is first come, first served.
Do you have life jackets?
Lifejackets for both adults and children are readily available and are fully compliant with current Coastguard regulations. Our tour is very gentle and you are not required to wear lifejackets. It is a dry ride. If you have any questions, concerns or particular requests, please ask any crew member or the captain prior to departure.
Do I have to worry about seasickness?
The water portion of the tour takes place in protected waters, with little or no waves, making the water portion of the tour a pleasant and relaxing experience.
I’m pregnant. Can I still go on the tour?
The water portion of the duck tour is steady enough for pregnant women - however, if you are in your third trimester or have other concerns, it is always best to consult with a doctor beforehand.
Should I tip the guide?
Gratuity is not included in the price of your ticket and is always greatly appreciated for a stellar job.
Will we get to see any local wildlife?
Absolutely! We often see various species of local birds, as well as fish and the occasional dolphin out on the water.
Are there opportunities to use the restroom on the duck tour?
There is no restroom aboard the Pirate Duck and we normally do not stop during the approx. 90 minute tour. Please remember to use the restroom before boarding. Public restrooms are available near our departure point on New World Symphony Park. We do have bathroom options along the route but you would have to inform our crew beforehand to plan accordingly.
Can I stow anything on the duck?
Storage space aboard the Pirate Duck is limited. If you have a stroller, please inform the crew beforehand to accommodate it.
Where do I park?
We recommend parking near the New World Symphony: You have the conveniently located Lincoln Road Mall Garage a block and a half west of our departure point. Exact location for the parking is: 1700 Convention Center Drive (intersection of Convention Center Drive and 17th St) , Miami Beach, Fl 33139. Parking on most days at that particular garage is $1/hour - probably your best parking option anywhere in South Beach! You will receive detailed directions and a map of the exact location after purchasing your tickets.
Where does the duck tour end?
The Tour ends exactly where it begins by New World Symphony Park, across from the Green View Hotel on the park side. There are a number of bus combinations, taxis and even free rides that will connect you from our assigned departure/arrival point to other places in South Beach. The Airport flier, an inexpensive connection to or from the Miami International Airport, stops about a block away.
Is smoking allowed?
No, smoking is not permitted on the duck.
Can I bring my dog or pet?
Small, well behaved dogs can be brought along. If they can sing along to pirate songs they will be even more welcomed. If you have any doubts, please call ahead with your particular need. Alligators, snakes and eagles are NOT allowed. Hamsters are OK as long as you keep them on a leash.
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Still pictures are fine. Due to copyright restrictions, audio or video recording is NOT allowed during the duration of the show/tour.
How should I dress for the duck tour?
We recommend dressing for the weather as our duck is open-aired on sunny days to ensure the best views for you. Keep in mind that on rainy days our weatherproof curtains will be closed, so you do not need rain gear.
Will locals enjoy the duck tour as well or is it mostly for tourists?
Absolutely! Whether you are looking for a way to entertain out-of-town guests, plan a bachelorette party, have a team-building exercise or just learn more about the wonderful city you live in, this is the tour for you! You’ll be surprised at how much you will learn on the tour from our comfortable amphibious vehicle.

Will we be able to purchase souvenirs or shop during the duck tour?
While we will be pointing out some local hotspots for shopping, there will be no time for shopping on the duck tour. We recommend taking note of places that interest you, then asking your guide for directions if you need them at the conclusion of your tour.
