This outing was incredible! They seemed to know precisely where we would find the whales, and although it took awhile to get to them, the boat trip itself was exhilarating! We saw a mother humpback and her large calf, as well as a number of white-sided dolphins that were doing their best to pester the whales into swimming quickly, so as to be able to play in the resulting wake. Cool, very cool! No breaching, but we did see roll overs, fins and flukes. I will definitely be back at a different time of year to see other species! By the way, the bay's breakwater is covered with sea lions and sea otters frolick all over there too. It's a great harbour.

We saw two different species of whales, a pod of dolphins, and a huge group of feeding sea lions. We were on our way back in when they spotted the sea lions and the dolphins, and they made a point to detour to see them, which was much appreciated.

The trip leader knew a lot about the species we saw, and told us a lot about them when we were waiting for them to resurface.

Overall I'd totally recommend it!

Good trip

I chose this particular outfit because they had a 2.5 hour tour, vs. the competition's 4 hour tour. SOOOOOO glad I did. 4 hours in those seas would have had us all seasick. Perfect length for a successful trip. Saw Humpbacks, a Gray and a pod of Rossi Dolphin. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I promised my daughter a hot-chocolate or other type treat from the boat's snack bar. The snack bar was not open on our trip. Not sure she would have taken me up on the hot choc with the number of people heaving over the side, but it wasn't an option for us anyway.

The staff and the boat were fantastic! We had a brilliant blue sky and could see forever. On the trip out my 9 year old grandson said even if we don't see a whale this is a great ride. The absolute joy on his face when the humpbacks were spotted made my day!

This was our first trip going whale watching and we could not have been happier. The water was fairly calm, the weather was pleasant, the crew was friendly and helpful and we got to see much sea life, including humpback whales. This was just a lot of fun and very enjoyable.

Much sailing in high seas

While we did see a group of humpback whales and dolphins, approximately 80% of the time it is just sailing out to rendezvous with the whales. Even though the weather was sunny and with little wind, the waves were quite high, and after 1 hour (shortly before actually encountering the whales), my 16 year daughter's stomach couldn't take more rolling in the high sea and she got seasick. This happened in spite of taking a pill against motion sickness.

The crew was friendly and informative. The only thing I didn't care for was that we always seemed to be the furthest boat away from the whales. The other boats out there were smaller and seemed to get much closer to the action. With that being said if you get sea sickness I would definitely stick to the larger boat. I booked online and after reaching the wharf saw that there where plenty of other options that were less expensive. I paid $20 extra to be on top of the ship after already paying $40+ for the normal ticket.
