Whale Watching Done Right

The Princess Whale watching tours go out on the large 100 ft boats that are very comfortable on the bay waters. The interior is kept very clean and it is heated. They have nice large windows if you are watching from the inside. They have a naturalist of sorts on board who is your "tour guide" - I found her to be knowledgeable and entertaining enough on a lengthy cruise. She also made herself available by coming around the boat as we were heading back to shore to engage with her in a dialogue - that's a nice touch - my kids were able to interact with her. I would recommend this tour to others. We've used them twice now - first time we got to see and be very close to two orca pods. The highlight was grey whales this most recent time.

1st whale watching trip

1st whale watching experience. Docent/Guide was great at pointing out interesting facts about geology of Monterey Bay influencing the behavior of the grey whales. Unique behavior of the dolphins in the area to the whales(she used a term which I can't remember) that irritated the whales. Saw 18 individual whales that day. My 6yo was apprehensive about going, but now wants to go again.

Grey Whales Galore!

I was impressed with the knowledge and friendliness of the crew. We saw about 17 grey whales, some Risso dolphins and several clusters of sea lions. We got to watch a rarity... 2-3 whales trying to "roll" off some pesky Risso dolphins. Way cool! We saw lots of whale tails and blow spouts! I have been on other whale watching tours and I have to say this was the BEST by far!

We saw almost a dozen Grey Whales on a beautiful day on this trip. Th naturalist was fantastic, keeping us informed about all the wildlife visible on our trip. Can't wait to go again when the Humpbacks and Blues are visiting Monterey Bay.

Our group really enjoyed our cruise. The guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Make sure to bring warm clothes though! It can get very chilly out there. We saw otters, sea lions, dolphins, gray whales, lots of sea birds. Very fun!

Not worth the money
Mon, Dec 30, 13   10:00 AM ManuelaMusch Male 20-29 International Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
It was quite far from the experience promised and expected - it's not much more than mass processing and a couple of tailfins from afar. Worst part of the whole thing was the absolutely annoying, so called marine biologist, who wasted our time with a load of nonsensical, repetitive sentences, uttered with a piercing voice and on an intellectual level that might be appropriate for retards, not for mentally healthy people. It could have been just a nice trip on a boat on a lovely, sunny morning, with whales somewhere in the same ocean as you, and some insights into marine biology, but it wasn't and overall, it was way too expensive.

A good tour in the Monterey Bay

Very good service and communication, the boat is excellent and confortable. Very kind personnel whit explanations during all the trip around Monterey Bay.

You do not expect to see the whales as close as in the photos of the leaflet.
