I really enjoyed this activity. The narrator provided a lot of interesting information on what we were seeing and other wildlife facts. We saw so many whales and the captain did a good job directing us to them as closely as possible. I highly recommend this trip.

We saw about 20 hump back whales. The guide provided great information on whales to keep things entertaining. The rest of the staff was friendly as well. We would do this trip again. Well worth it.

the boat was nice and neat, not overcrowded. the staff was very friendly. We watched around 20 humpback whales, two of them jumping out of the water. It was a great experience overall!

Our whale watching experience was awesome! We saw lots of different types of whales and other sea life that we're all pointed out by the naturalist on the boat. I would definitely recommend Princess for whale watching! We can't wait to go again!

We saw a TV spot on a local show about Princess whale watching and decided to make a day of it in Monterey --a little whale watching, the aquarium, and our favorite clam chowder place. We go out on the water with one of the charter companies off the wharf for fishing a couple times a year, and always knew there were whale watching boats going out, but never thought to try it.

We'd previously seen whales up close on snorkeling and fishing trips, but never specifically went only for whale watching. In Maui, our boat almost ran into a whale as it full-breached right in front of us while we were heading out to a snorkeling spot, so we were pretty excited to check out whales up close and closer to home. We saw a ton of whales, but nothing as exciting as the full breach we saw in Maui. Still, it was pretty fun and nice to sit out on the top deck in the sun and enjoy the ocean and marine life.

The top deck might not be worth the extra $20 though --most of the "action" occurs at the bow of the boat, and on the top deck, the bow is cordoned off. The lower deck has seating in the bow section, and you can actually get a lot closer to curious whales coming up close to the boat. Also, on the top deck, you tend to get more seasick since the ocean sway is magnified the higher up you are. The only advantage of the top deck really is that you can see further out around you and you can see whales further off in the distance. But since the point is to get up close to them, the lower deck bow (if you can get on the boat before everyone else) probably actually offers a better experience. I felt mildly disappointed that I paid an extra $40 for the top deck --however I suppose it was a bit less crowded up on top, which is nice too.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and I definitely recommend Princess Whale Watching as a fun weekend activity.
