It was a very moving experience to be so near such large, graceful animals that I could hear them breathe!

The narrating was excellent and we had an amazing time. Of course we had perfect weather but everyone who helped us from check in to leaving the boat afterwards was pleasant and nice. Definitely recommend this to anyone!

How to enjoy

It was a disappointing trip for me due to motion sickness, horrible.

I wish I was able to know how important was to take medication to physically deal with the rough waves.

Men, women and children suffered through this trip, very expensive to be sick and not enjoy it.

Good trip

Saw tons of grey whales, and the crew was knowledgeable and very friendly.

Don't go hungover - those swells are killer for even the most well-meaning landlubbers.

There are $3 off coupons available in other tourist locations, and they give you a coupon for a free appetizer at the Fisherman's Grotto (amazing soup!)

The boat was clean and well-maintained, interior kept warm, and it wasn't too crowded. The day was beautiful and cruise was smooth. We saw five gray whale, hundreds of dolphins and sea lions, dozens of otters and harbor seals. We had a great time!

Whale Watching Done Right

The Princess Whale watching tours go out on the large 100 ft boats that are very comfortable on the bay waters. The interior is kept very clean and it is heated. They have nice large windows if you are watching from the inside. They have a naturalist of sorts on board who is your "tour guide" - I found her to be knowledgeable and entertaining enough on a lengthy cruise. She also made herself available by coming around the boat as we were heading back to shore to engage with her in a dialogue - that's a nice touch - my kids were able to interact with her. I would recommend this tour to others. We've used them twice now - first time we got to see and be very close to two orca pods. The highlight was grey whales this most recent time.

1st whale watching trip

1st whale watching experience. Docent/Guide was great at pointing out interesting facts about geology of Monterey Bay influencing the behavior of the grey whales. Unique behavior of the dolphins in the area to the whales(she used a term which I can't remember) that irritated the whales. Saw 18 individual whales that day. My 6yo was apprehensive about going, but now wants to go again.

Grey Whales Galore!

I was impressed with the knowledge and friendliness of the crew. We saw about 17 grey whales, some Risso dolphins and several clusters of sea lions. We got to watch a rarity... 2-3 whales trying to "roll" off some pesky Risso dolphins. Way cool! We saw lots of whale tails and blow spouts! I have been on other whale watching tours and I have to say this was the BEST by far!
