Best Birthday ever

We were impressed from the moment we were met on the dock by the naturalist on the trip. She was very knowledgable about marine mammals and the Monterey area and was comedic too. We saw jellyfish, otters, sea lions, Risso dolphins, a pod of 5-6 killer whales and two humpbacks. Weather was great and it was a very smooth ride. This trip was for my husbands 73rd birthday and we had a great time

what a great trip for individual or group

What a nice trip and a nice crew. Loved it, would recommend it to anyone else and would do it again!

I booked the 2.5 hour trip. Initially I had it scheduled for Saturday morning but the weather was bad so it was cancelled. They were so nice. They called and sent an email and automatically refunded my ticket, no questions. I re-booked for the next day and am very glad I did. The trip went was a 2.5 hour trip, but it went from 9-12- fine by me. :)

We saw tons of animals. Seals, otters, dolphins, whales, birds. At one point the biologist said there were 20 whales around us. I believe it! whale breath from every direction.

I've been on several whale watches from New England. Some I saw whales, some I saw only dolphins, Loved them all. This one I got lucky and it was one of the more entertaining trips. The biologist was a hoot and knew her stuff! I'm really glad she gave us a little insight on the history of the bay too, not just the animals.

The waves were pretty big since we had just gotten a storm the previous day so I have to give credit to the captain too- he or she handled that boat well and did a great job making the trip a less bumpy ride than it could have been. I am also very happy about how respectful the crew and captain were to the sea life. Unlike the other whale watch vessel that was near us, our captain circled the perimeter so the animals weren't disturbed and they continued doing what they were doing- showing off. At times the whales came pretty close to us, but that was their doing. It was a good show until another whale watching boat charged in the middle of the group of whales. The captain was driving that boat as if it was a motor boat. If I knew how to report them I would. The whales only stuck around for a couple more minutes after they disturbed them. What a shame.

The Princess Monterey is a single level boat with ample interior and exterior space for all passengers. There is a bar with drinks (non-alcoholic) and snacks inside. Kids under 5 are not allowed on board. The boat is large enough so that it won't get tossed around with large waves, the crew knows what they are doing and the biologist is great. She has worked in the field and in conservation for several years. The boat is very easily accessible and is docked right on the Monterey fishermans warf. I wouldn't say this is a handicapped accessible cruise.

I hope if you do take a tour, that you go with these guys. I'll do it again.

Saw lots of whales, pleasant and enthusiastic crew

Saw some Rizzo dolphins, followed a pair of humpbacks for a bit, then headed to the "hot spot" at least 20 humpbacks within sight. Waves were choppy, and I got a little sea sick, but the trip was fun. The boat was clean and in good condition. The naturalist was very enthusiastic and made the trip more fun.

Fabulous Experience - Just Go!!

The boat was clean, the staff was professional, the naturalist narrator was informative and entertaining!!

We saw about 8 whales and followed a pod of 3 whales for over an hour. They approached us as they showed their flukes, flippers and noses. Two species of dolphins were also active near the whales. It was a fabulous show. I would go again with this company. They communicate with the commercial fishing boats to locate the whales. Go early in the day for calmer seas - we went on the 10 am trip. It was fabulous!!

Whale of a time

Overall great experience...

The only suggestion would be to have a softer loud speaker for the tour guide. It was VERY loud... Might be great for those older people who are almost deaf... But most everyone I talked to around me were complaining that the loud speaker was way too loud.

A pity the whales were far away, but that is the law and thus ok.

20 US$ for a roofseat is overdone.
