My husband and I have gone whale watching in Monterey and Hawaii. We always had fun but were somewhat disappointed because we never saw whales up close. Sunday, December 1st we went out on the Princess Monterey cruise. The ship (or boat) was in excellent shape and the whale watching was amazing. We had a lot of whales very close in and a couple within 25 yards. So exciting! Don't recommend the hot chocolate though -- it had a metallic taste to it. Overall, a great day.

Really special experience, great seeing whales. Recommend paying the $20 to be on the top deck, if its an option.

We loved our tour. We are happy we picked a gorgeous December day during the anchovy run--apparently a late season anomaly. There were hoards of sea lions, whales and dolphins. The whales were breathtakingly close. The "narrator" was skilled and interesting. The ride was smooth, loading was efficient. Would definitely recommend this tour!

There had been much news of how many whales were in the bay so the boat was sold out. They managed the crowd well. The sound system was poor, so the information from the naturalist was spotty.

I have never been on a boat surrounded by such majestic creatures as the humpback whales before. At times as many as 20 were all around us. Many coming very close to the boat. We also saw Bottle Nose Dolphins and Risso Dolphins. The speed swimming Sea Lions were also very entertaining The experience was well worth the money, and time spent.

the day was perfect in every way--bright and sunny, smooth seas and lots of marine life. We found ourselves constantly in the middle of the action: sea lions roiling in a huge rack; whales slapping tails, blowing spray and generally delighting themselves and us.

It was well worth rising early for the 7AM sailing. Less crowd, great views. The upper deck is worth it if there are seats available...
