Great Day

Nice long trip to the viewing area saw numerous risso's dolphins and sea birds on the way then were surrounded by humpback whales for about an hour both near and far. Took enough photos to drain my cameras batteries so I just enjoyed the scene.

Boat crew were friendly and most helpful. Second trip on the Princess Monterey Whale Watching and look forward to a third in a few months when the grays are heading North.

Caught the tail end (pardon the pun) of this year’s anchovy bloom. Comfortable boat. Very enthusiastic naturalist guide. Saw more than 2 dozen whales!

I couldn't believe how close the whales came to the boat, how many of them there were, and how moving the experience was. The guide taught us so many interesting anecdotes, particularly about baby whales, family groups, and the reproductive process. I don't think I could ever return to SeaWorld after this-- seeing whales in the wild gives you such a personal appreciation and respect for their beauty and their need for open space.

The naturalist with our trip was enthusiastic and added to the enjoyment of the trip. We saw many whales, a few seals and lots of birds. I had hoped to see dolphins too, but apparently the dolphins were elsewhere and there was not time to go visit them. Wish the trip had been longer.

Best whale watching trip ever!

I go whale watching several times a year in Southern CA but this was my first time in Monterey. We scheduled a detour on our trip to SF after reading about the unusual number of whales in the bay and sure am glad we did. Whales everywhere! But, had we not seen a single whale, it still would have been a great trip. The woman (marine biologist?) who narrated our trip was exceptionally informative. We learned a lot, not only about what we were seeing but the area's history and geography. The crew was very friendly and helpful and the price was great. There is no such thing as a bad time on a boat but this trip exceeded my expectations!

Cold and long boat ride

It was a nice surprise to have hot coffee and donuts waiting for us when we boarded. The crew was very friendly. It took a while to locate the whales, but when we did, they were everywhere. We could not get too close to them, so if you were not on the rail, you did not get a good view. It would have been nice if the captain positioned the boat so everyone could get a good look. Also it was an hr ride...30 minutes of viewing...and an hr ride back in. Advice would be to make sure you had a seat in the heated cabin because it was COLD! Overall...it was a nice experience.

The crew was professional, and naturalist very helpful and knowledgeable. Not too many whales spotted, but that's the luck of the draw. Hot coffee and, for those of you not watching you calories, donuts. Good time had by all.
