Great Afternoon Excursion

I booked a 12:30 trip about a week prior. The day before, I got an email from Princess advising that the tour was subject to cancellation due to weather. They didn't cancel it, but gave us a heads up that seas had been rough in the afternoons and we were encouraged to move our reservation to a morning slot. Neither of us could do that due to needing to drive 3 hours to get to Monterey, so we crossed our fingers and understood that we might have to reschedule for another date if the weather didn't cooperate. We appreciated the advanced warning from Princess. Ended up to be a beautiful day, and the excursion sailed as planned, with a mostly empty boat. We were able to wander around from one side of the boat to the other, or could go inside when it got cool. We saw one humpback whale and were able to stay with it for about an hour...this was after we had been sailing for about 45 minutes. The staff provided great commentary about the whale, types of whales seen in the bay, and about other marine life. We also saw dolphin and sea lions. The boat was clean. We took Dramamine an hour before leaving and did not experience seasickness. I thought the price was reasonable for what we got. This particular ship did not have the optional upper deck for $20 extra. The main deck was absolutely fine.

Highly recommend.

What a great experience this was for us, especially as we have been wanting to see whales for years, and never saw them on other trips with different companies. We thought your company did an awesome job, especially taking a small group out, and spending a lot of time out there once we had spotted the whale(s), and giving a running commentary, we will definitely recommend your company, and will post a review on yelp. Thank you for helping make our trip such a special experience - we will never forget it, and you even provided perfect weather!

It was a great day, with great friends~we did spend the extra money to sit on the upper deck~thankfully b/c

everyone was barfing down below! a few barfed up top~ the garbage can smelled and almost made a couple of people from our group barf~ I asked the worker to please take away the bag and he did and it helped :)

I felt fine~it was a very bumpy ride out there~smoother coming back~the whales were great~ we saw quite a few~

I would recommend if you are up for the whole sea sick thing with other people and/or yourself~thanks for asking :)

It was great for what it was~

Great whale watching tour

I booked a whale watching tour with my wife for her birthday and Princess was the perfect fit because it was only 2.5 hours instead of the typical 5 hour trip. Booking the ticket through Serve was a snap. They called the night before and said our originally booked tour was being cancelled due to high swell. We went in the morning which was fine. They try to upsell you to top deck for an extra $20 per ticket. Totally unnecessary in my mind. You can see the whales just fine from the bottom deck, and the motion is much worse on the top deck, so most people came down to the bottom deck anyway. The naturalist on the boat was great and we saw 3 different pods of 2 humpback whales, including a mother and calf! The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because they specifically told us to be there by 9:30 for the 10 am cruise, but when the boat wasn't full they waited an extra 20 minutes to try to sell more tickets. Sitting and waiting almost an hour on the boat for them to sell more tickets was extremely annoying and it was pretty disrespectful to the people who had already purchased tickets and were waiting patiently.

What an awesome two and a half hours

Our day started at 9:00 am. On the way out to where the whales had been sighted, we saw otters and seals playing in the waves. Our first experience was with a school of dolphins. They swam on top the water with the boat for quite some time. Then we started to see "blows" in the distance. When we got closer, a whale came up very close to our boat and we were able to see it very well. It was magnificent! We probably saw at least five whales and we followed two - one large and one smaller for about 30 minutes and would get a very clear look each time they surfaced. They rewarded us numerous time by showing their "flukes" or tail. It was a truly amazing experience.

This outing was incredible! They seemed to know precisely where we would find the whales, and although it took awhile to get to them, the boat trip itself was exhilarating! We saw a mother humpback and her large calf, as well as a number of white-sided dolphins that were doing their best to pester the whales into swimming quickly, so as to be able to play in the resulting wake. Cool, very cool! No breaching, but we did see roll overs, fins and flukes. I will definitely be back at a different time of year to see other species! By the way, the bay's breakwater is covered with sea lions and sea otters frolick all over there too. It's a great harbour.
