By the late 19th-century, approximately ten thousand taverns had popped up across New York City. Some of them are still serving today!

Who deserves to be called New York's oldest drinking establishment? We will let you decide for yourself on this 3.5 hour walking pub tour of 6 of New York City's oldest pubs, including:
  • Fraunces Tavern
  • The Ear Inn
  • The White Horse Tavern
  • Mc Sorley’s
  • Pete’s Tavern and
  • The Old Town
We will explore the roles these bars played in New York City's written, artistic and cultural history. Learn how these bars survived Prohibition, influenced old New York City politics and were molded by the families that owned them over the years.

These bars are located in many of Manhattan's most famous neighborhoods, including TriBeCa, SoHo, Greenwich Village and Gramercy Park. You might also recognize filming locations from some of your favorite TV shows and movies along the way. Keep an eye out for famous New York landmarks like the Brooklyn Bridge, World Trade Center and Washington Square Park as well; they always make for great photo ops!

What Is Not Included?

  • Drinks and food are not included in the price of the tour.  Guests are encouraged to enjoy dinner or a bite to eat at Fraunces Tavern prior to the tour.
  • Tips are also not included but are greatly appreciated for a job well done.
