AWESOME tour guide, but skip the hustle

The tour guide (Marc Baron) on this tour is what made it so great. He was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and engaging. We are locals and have never been on a tourist tour, but highly recommend all Sopranos fans to go on this one! I won't go into all of the details of the tour because others do in their reviews, and just want to share and to warn others of the only disappointing part of the tour that happened at the beginning before we even left.

The only downside of the whole tour that was really weird was that the actor that plays "Vito Spatafore," Joe Gannascoli was at the beginning of the tour. Basically when you check in with the tour guide (Marc Baron), he said "if you want to meet one of the actors from the show, he is 4 cars down at a silver car). So we walk down and join the line. What really happens is Joe is selling books, signed autographs, and cigars out the back of his car. We really just wanted to say hi and say how much we liked his work, we were not interested in buying anything. We watched this happen with others, and when it was our turn it was the same. He was extremely unfriendly and would not make any eye contact. My husband was super excited to meet him told him how much he appreciated his work (we are actors so artistically are especially appreciative)....Joe doesn't say anything so my husband asks if he can get a picture...Joe doesn't look at him but just refers to his hatchback full of products to sell and says "something for the effort" husband looks at me kind of confused and shocked and on the spot not knowing what to say because, no offense, but we genuinely are not interested in buying anything (we're not cheap, we just don't want it). My husband says no thank you but would it be okay if we just get a picture, and again Joe, refusing eye contact, says "something for the effort...I drove 2 hours." Not wanting to ruin the experience for my husband who really wants a picture with him, I encourage him to buy a signed autograph. But the whole thing left me feeling weird and gross like we had been hustled by this guy who could care less about his fans and just is interested in making a buck. The tour could have totally done without him and I think would have made it honestly much much better. Not a good way to start the tour at all....I really recommend to the tour group that they just ditch him because Marc Baron honestly makes the whole tour great and meeting and getting hustled by Joe in the beginning is totally not necessary.

That's it! Totally recommend the tour!!! Personally suggest skipping "meeting" Joe in beginning and save your dollars for Holsten's and Badda Bing for food, drinks and tips, as well as a big fat well deserved tip for Marc Baron at the end of the tour.

The whole tour was brilliant, the Tour guide, a previous extra on The Sopranos , Marc Baron was excellent throughout, educating the tour members, on inside information, referencing the system of pay to extras and talking parts. He also knew quite a lot about the wage structure of the stars, and how they helped out the cast and crew in attempting to raise their pay levels as well as having an extensive knowledge on all things sopranos, with clips, questions, questions for prizes, and plenty of stops along the way to view the different soprans-related sites. I enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend it to any fan. Maybe if attending it with a girlfriend, be prepared to enter Satan Dolls, (The Bada Bing), as it was a quite uncomfortable experience pretending not to look, but the rest of the tour was top drawer!

My husband and I went on this tour. The guide was great and we also met Vito!

Best bits are the onion rings and the Badabing, but won't give anything else away!

The tour was excellent! We stopped/saw so many sites from the TV show. We got to meet Vito at the beginning of our tour--got his autograph and a picture with him! Our tour guide, Gary, was very knowledgeable. So much fun if you're a true Sopranos fan!

went on this with my wife, both of use being big Soprano fans, but not nerds! We were surprised how much we knew of he set and storylines that came up. Gary, out tour guide kept the entertainment going throughout the 4 hours with trivia quizzes, show/actor background info, sightseeing of all things Jersey etc. The stops were good fun and plenty of photo opportunities all along the route only slight disappointment is not being able to stop at Pizzaland for a slice. Would not avoid for this, still lots more to see, do, and hear.

First, the tour guide and driver were excellent and the tour had great potential. The guide had worked on the set and knew a lot about the show. He was very personable and interesting. The problem came when the bus broke down. The driver tried to fix it, but couldn't (I don't blame him, he really tried) and the guide tried to keep us entertained. The driver must have worked on the bus for about 40 minutes. Then the tour company told us that they were sending another bus. First, they told us another bus would be there in 20 minutes and after 20 minutes, it was another 30 minutes! By the time the bus showed up, even though we were not a very large group and wanted to complete the trip, they took us straight back since they needed the bus for a "Sex and the City Tour". The two highlights of the tour that they save for last were totally skipped. They skipped the stop at "Satin Dolls" (Bada Bing) and the restaurant were the final scene was filmed. Rather then paying a little extra and bringing in a separate bus, they couldn't be bothered. This trip was in the winter, when tourism is light and I have a hard time believing they couldn't get us a bus. I believe that they were just too cheap to do so. We had considered doing a private tour of Manhattan with the same tour company, but after the Sopranos tour, we decided against it since they really don't seem to care about there customers.

Good if you are a big fan

This is a very good tour if you are a fan - the visit to the Bada Bing Club and the restaurant used by the Sopranos in the final episode was great (and the food you can buy at the restaurant is very good - especially the ice cream). The tour guide was actually in the show and was very knowledgeable and a nice guy. After a while the continued detailed questions he posed about who had said what in which episode became a bit overpowering, but it did fill in the time in several longish drives between set locations. Definitely worth the money

Daughter's Birthday Trip to NYC a big success

I love the Sopranos series, but my daughter chose the tour and I figured it would be silly. But the guide was very knowledgeable, and we learned alot about the show you will not learn anywhere else. It was a gorgeous day and it was nice not to spend it all in the shadow of the sky scrapers. I recommend it.
