Best tour ever

Best tour we have ever been on. Scott was amazing, friendly, enthusiastic and full of energy with a real passion for pizza. Not only did we sample some great pizza but we learnt a great deal as well. If you want to try great pizza and perhaps go to a part of NYC you might not normally get to then this is the tour for you.

I can't speak highly enough of Sam. He's probably the best guide you could ask for to the world of pizza and NYC is pizza mecca. My only complaint is that the tour (and my stomach) had to end.

This is a fantastic way for those new to the city to get to know the place.

I highly recommend this tour. You eat great food: ie, pizza and you learn all about pizza, pizzerias, pizza boxes and more from the amazing Scott Wiener. Full disclosure, I'm one of Scott's friends. I've done private walking tours 4 times but really enjoyed my first time on the bus tour. Pros: 1) You can hear everything Scott says because he uses the bus's sound system. 2) You can visit a wider range of pizzerias geographically because you are on a bus (to be fair if this is your first time on a SPT doing a walking tour will be just as great but as I've gone to the same pizzerias multiple times it was nice to go to different ones) 3) My stomach didn't get jostled from pizzeria to pizzeria so I felt like I could eat more with greater comfort. Cons: 1) There is a risk of traffic. (although by having the tour on a Sunday it helps reduce the risk) 2) As a local, the chances I'll go back to the pizzeria in Bensonhurst is much lower than the pizzerias located in the West Village (where my previous walking tours took place).

All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys pizza and learning new things.

I live in Brooklyn and I bought this for my mom for her birthday. Me, my parents and my girlfriend all went. We had a great tour guide who was also a stand up comedian and showed some of his schtick. We all had a great time with good laughs and good people. We also learned a lot about how intricate the pizza making process really is. i would recommend this to anyone, local or vacationing, because this is worth it. I now have some new spots to show friends who have lived here forever.

This was my third Pizza tour ,and by far the worst. we got 3 slices of cheese pizza. the other tours we got what we wanted on it. I did get to go to 2 places I always wanted to go to though. But we walked and walked and spent over 3 hours. I wouldn't do it again !

Miriam was an excellent guide with great knowledge of the world of pizza! She was also very enthusiastic and had a very good rapport with all of our group. Would definitely recommend this tour (and Miriam) to our friends when we get back to England.

The pizza tour was a unique way to learn the history of the area and pizza. Our guide, Miriam was very enthusiastic, funny and knowledgeable of pizza and its history. We sampled three pizzas from three different restaurants. Each one very tasty. My only complaint would be that sometimes Miriam got off topic and talked too much. Overall, the entire experience was amazing and now I will never eat pizza the same way.

The Pizza Tour is filled with facts, it's fun and you get to sample 3 pieces of pizza from 3 different pizza places. Our tour guide Alexis was very knowledgeable. Good for teenagers.

Heat Advisory
Sun, Jul 19  11:15 AM Adrienneelev Female 20-29 Local Family Without Children
Even if we are going to a slice shop, we should have seats

Since there was a heat advisory we should have been given the option to get a refund (or at least only go to places with AC!)

I would have loved to hear more from the owners

Very Disappointed

I read the web site after the CBS Morning show feature last year. It stressed a historical tour. I specifically remember Frank Sinatra's favorite pizza joint and there were other sites noted I would have liked to visit. Why would I want to brag about going to a small neighborhood pizza shop in Queens? I spent $186.00 on AMTRAK and the pizza tour fee for that!! I didn't like the fact that a couple had taken 25 previous bus tours and Scott thought it would be good to go somewhere new! Why would anyone spend that amount of money for 4 slices of pie? It's not pizza. My strong recommendation is to have a specific weekend each month for that promised historical tour. I told my brother not to bother.
Scott's Pizza Tours responded:
Thanks so much for your review, it's very helpful to get feedback like this. We change our pizzeria stops every week and didn't hit Patsy's Pizzeria (Sinatra's favorite) when you took the tour. That pizzeria is in East Harlem, on 1st Ave and 118th Street, so it's not part of our route when we go to Brooklyn as we did on your tour. I'll fix the wording on the website to make it clear that stops change weekly and we don't consistently go to any single pizzeria (besides Lombardi's, our first stop with the 100+ year old coal oven). Again, thank you for the feedback and please let me know if you're coming back into NYC so I can give you a list of more historic pizzerias.

Entertaining Family Event

1st of all, Scott's personality is magnetic! He related to all who were on the tour, from seniors to children. He brought history, information, humor & GREAT pizza! It's obvious he's invested & LOVES what he does. Several years ago, we took the Chicago Pizza tour & Scott knew the owner of that company & a food blogger we both knew from Atlanta. It's obvious how committed he is to pizza & the food touring business. Well worth the money & then some!!! Rob - Greenville SC

My sister and I took Scott's Pizza Bus Tour in July. We had pizza slices at 1 Manhattan pizza parlor and 3 Brooklyn pizza parlors. Pizza slices were delicious! Scott is a very enthusiastic tour guide. He knows so much about all aspects of pizza- the ovens, the crust, the sauce, the cheese, the boxes, etc. We had a great time, and we would definitely recommend this tour to everyone!
