The perfect end to an amazing get away

The Fame crew was incredible! My boat trip was originally cancelled due to weather and they personally called me to inform me and quickly and kindly made arrangements so that I could still sail the next day! This made a huge impact on my regards toward them immediately! Never had an organization made such effort to make certain their patrons were well taken care of! The moment they opened the gate to walk to the ship they were polite and very personable ! They took the time to make each guest feel welcome, even taking time to (each crew member)I individually talk to guests aboard! They really made the two hour sail enjoyable and allowed so many to participate in the sail raising and steering. This whole experience made my trip to Salem over the top! So glad I found this sail and highly recommend it to anyone young and old alike!!! It is a don't miss adventure in Salem, Ma.

Relaxing boat ride

Took my 10 and 12 boys on the Fame Schooner. It was a relaxing boat ride. It was an unusually foggy day, the views were limited and we couldn't go sail the normal route due to poor visibility, so check the local conditions or call before you book. The staff were friendly, affordable drinks and snacks aboard. Bathroom on board as well. Due to the fog we were just circling Salem sound, so it was a little boring doing laps in the same area. Boat ride was 1 hour and 45 min......a little long for my boys. They did get to participate in raising the sails and got a chance to steer the boat at one point. I enjoyed the boat ride because it's not very often we have the opportunity to be on a boat. Overall I would recommend it, it's fine for kids and perfect for adults. Definitely bring a sweatshirt, it goes get windy out there. Luckily, they had warm blankets on board for us.

A perfect harbor sail in mysterious mist!

Very early on (during our 2 o'clock August sail on the Schooner Fame), the boat was literally enveloped by fog! Not at all the trip we had envisioned ... yet, surprisingly just as good as we had envisioned, albeit completely different. The experienced captain and crew knew just how to safely adapt to the weather conditions. A stiff breeze blew away the muggy heat we had experienced ashore that morning. And the fog itself - like a thick shroud some times, at other times more like a misty veil - added just the right touch of mystery to set our imaginations soaring as we sailed from the docks of Witch City into Salem harbor, thinking of eras long past.
Schooner FAME responded:
There is nothing quite like sailing in fog! An amazing experience, if a bit wearing on the captain and crew! Thanks for sharing. — Capt. Mike

After having seen the schooner Fame dozens of times while paddleboarding, my kids and I went on a sail yesterday. It was a fun time! We enjoyed the sail on the boat as well as the overview of the history area that was given by the captain of the boat.

Great sailing experience for all

We had a wonderful sail out of Salem to Bakers Island and back aboard a terrific schooner. The crew was very friendly, helpful and informative. They allowed the guest to help raise the sails and even learn how to steer the boat. This is a great respite from a hot afternoon on shore. I would highly recommend this for all ages, any tourists and also locals born and raised on the North Shore.

Captain Mike, and crew Bernie and Liz made our sailing experience excellent. The captain and crew are personable, engaging and very knowledgable. We were regaled with info about local surroundings and the history of Privateering. Can't wait to sail on the Fame again! Great experience !

FABULOUS. If you live in the area, you should sail on the Fame every summer! If you're visiting, sail on the Fame and see the Peabody Essex and you've done the two best things in town!
Schooner FAME responded:
Thanks for sailing with us! Hope to see you again soon!
