Beautiful ship, fabulous crew
Sat, Jun 27  6:00 PM avatarsound Female 50-59 Local Group of Friends
The ship is just stunning, a replica made using the old methods. She's sturdy, comfortable and very seaworthy. The crew is well versed in the ship's history (the original period) and in shipbuilding history in general. Every ride I take on the Fame, I learn something new about the ship or history of the war of 1812.

You can participate in the raising of the sails, or steer the boat if you wish. Fun! What a great couple of hours! Thanks to the crew for making it such a great ride.

Would like to have gone out further. Beautiful ship and very nice crew.

If you come again, look for a good breeze from either the NW or the SE. That's when we can really make tracks!

Scenic outing, unique vessel, interesting history
Sat, Jun 20  4:00 PM rrpastore Male 50-59 Local Unspecified
We enjoyed the view, the boat was comfortable and unique. This isn't a luxury cruise with cushioned seats. It's a true sail and you are close to the water and in the wind.

Schooner FAME responded:
Thanks for the review. Come again! Every cruise a bit different!

This was our first time on any kind of sail boat. It ranks as one of the highlights of our trip to the area, if not the highllight. Great crew! Loved the history of the schooner and her place in the war efforrt.

Family Fun out on Salem Harbor
Sun, Jun 14  12:00 PM jdreins Male 50-59 Local Family Without Children
I brought my family (two parents [who are seniors now] along with my younger sister to the Fame for a cruise out on Salem Harbor on a warm and breezy afternoon in June. We had a great time -- helping raise sails, taking a turn at the tiller, and taking lots of photos. At other times, fellow passengers also took a turn at the tiller, including a trio of young boys who looked to be having lots of fun, too. Captain Ed provided a fascinating story of the history of Salem Harbor and the Fame, a replica of a fishing schooner turned privateer during the War of 1812. We enjoyed the 90+ minute sail and quickly decided to return again, soon!

I highly recommend taking a cruise on the Fame!

My husband and I can't wait to get back to Salem Harbor and sail the FAME again. It was the highlight of our weekend getaway. If you are visiting Salem then you HAVE to sail the FAME.

Thanks for that review — we look forward to sailing with you again! Maybe a bit more wind next time!

Seas the Day

I know, I know, but header is cheesy but I didn't know what else to put! Anyways, Are you looking for adventure and exercise? Then this ship is the place for you! My husband and and I thought it looked like a neat way to get out on the seas for an afternoon! We got asked if we wanted to help raise the sail and of course we said yes! It was a bit of a workout but nothing we couldn't handle! We had so much fun! I usually get sea sick right away, but felt fine the entire time on the water! It was a bit cold but they provided us with warm blankets. The crew was interesting and educated us on different things about Salem and its history. The water was perfect, we sailed at about 8-9 knots, but don't quote me on that! They even have little Canons that they shot off! The afternoon was perfect and I would do this all over again!!!

Schooner FAME responded:
Not cheesy at all :) Thanks for sailing with us! Come back again when it gets a bit warmer!

fantastic-most enjoyable
Sat, May 16  12:00 PM DPettit Female 50-59 Combination Family With Children
We were the first voyage of the 2015 season, the vessel was immaculate and extremely well cared for every detail was pristine. The captain"Mike" was knowledgeable and very engaging -pointing out the past as well as the coming shoreline's future redevelopment and answered all questions enthusiastically and accurate. The time spent on the Fame was relaxing, enjoyable and well worth the price. We were celebrating a college graduation in the area and it was one of the highpoint of our weekend. Highly recommend this attraction and would go again. Thanks to the crew and Captain Mike. The Pettit's Duanesburg, NY
