Fri, Sep 12, 14  11:00 AM Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
Food truly delicious and plenty of it - no need to buy lunch afterward.

Walk is at a leisurely pace, with plenty of stops for local history lessons.

Tour guide Ann Truelove was a joy to be with for 3 hours - friendly, knowledgeable, plenty of good stories about Frederick.

Plan now is to schedule a tour in December as a birthday gift.

Great Food...Minor Tour Flaws.

First of all, the food on this tour is GREAT! We ate more than enough for lunch as the tour description promises. We had turkey reuben stromboli, cane sugar sweetened sodas, pizza and beer, fancy chocolates, a pressed pastrami sandwich, and my favorite...a Mexican BLT and wine. The Mexican BLT came from The Wine Kitchen. This sandwich was the best sandwich I've had in a long time...maybe ever! The food from The Wine Kitchen was so good that my husband and I returned here in the evening for dinner in their bar. The tour was a great way to sample the fare at a variety of restaurants without having to have a full meal at each. There was some history thrown in as we walked around downtown which was also nice. It poured rain during the majority of the tour, but the tour guide kept us under cover as much as she could. There were a few things during the day that could have been different. When we were emailed the ticket information it told us where to meet the tour guide and suggested we be 10 minutes early so the tour could start on time. We were 20 minutes early to the location described. We waited there until a few minutes after the tour was to begin and the guide never showed up. She did eventually call us and tell us the tour starting location has changed. It would have been nice to have this information communicated to us. The tour guide mentioned at the beginning that if we wished to give her gratuities at the end that was encouraged. She even waited around after the tour was over for a long time to ensure that she got those. Also during one of the stops the tour guide talked to the owners of the establishment about job openings they had and asked for an application. I thought that was really tacky.

Every stop served up wonderful foods (beer and wine, too)! The tour guide was enthusiastic and informative. The variety of selections was broad and we got to sample from all over town. I had no idea Frederick had so many quality food establishments. It was a nice day out and we will definitely go back to Frederick again, and would like to try some other local food tours.

Great time and tour guide

Our tour gudie was enthusiastic and did a great job and the tour is very nice.

However, I went on this same tour about 3 years ago and it was better because we had a beer tasting to begin with and a slice of two different knids of pizza and then we chose our favorite beer and got a whole one of those or one that was not in the tasting, and we had a wine tasting at the wine kitchen on the canal.

I think they should be put back in or add in a wine tasting at the Vino Wine tasting place that is new on market street to replace the vinager and olive oil place that is not on the tour anymore.

I am new to the area. My daughter came for her first visit since I relocated, so I planned several activities for the weekend. I want to get to know the area and to make my daughters weekend special. The Food Tasting & Cultural Walking Tour was amazing. Lots of fun, food was outstanding and Jessica, the tour guide, made the day special! She is vibrant, enthusiastic and fun to be around. I am recommending the tour to everyone at work. Word of caution - don't eat breakfast! The food is incredibly good! Renee

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? Can I pay with cash?
Tickets must be purchased in advance. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. Tickets can only be purchased with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express through this site or over the phone. Cash is not accepted.
If a tour is sold out can I get on a waiting list?
We do not provide a waiting list. If a date is sold out, we may be able to open a few additional spots but that will depend on a number of factors. Please contact us by clicking "Contact TsteFredrick" to the left of the page to let us know what date you are interested in.
What about taking children/adolescents on the tour?
Our food tasting and cultural walking tour was developed with food and history lovers in mind. While we do offer a child ticket, keep in mind the tour is 3 hours long and some children have a limited attention span and may not fully appreciate the tour. It is possible their disinterest could interfere with your experience. However, some children and adolescents may love the tour. Parents, who know their children best, should assess the situation individually and decide whether the tour is appropriate for your child. Please note that infants or small children who will not be participating in the food tastings do not need a ticket, but please let us know they will be attending with you by including a "Message to the Seller" when purchasing your tickets.
Are walking tours given in bad weather?
All of our tours are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside many of the establishments on the tour. We will not be outside for the entire 3 hours. You should still dress appropriately for the day's weather conditions. Before purchasing tickets please be aware of the possible weather conditions for that time of year.
How should I dress during a tour?
We recommend casual, comfortable and weather-appropriate attire.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
At this time necessary accommodations can be made for vegetarians and several of our tastings are vegetarian friendly. We ask that you notify us when purchasing your tickets if you are a vegetarian. Unfortunately, we are NOT able to make food substitutions for any other food allergies (such as gluten free or dairy free). We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please note, not all of our tastings include things with dairy or wheat in them and you are still welcome to take the tour, we just ask that you refrain from those tastings.
How much walking is involved? Is it a fast-paced tour?
We are on our feet for approximately 3 hours and the route is just under 1½ miles. We cover a lot of information and ground so we do walk at a moderate place. There are a few opportunities to sit down throughout the tour but we do recommend wearing comfortable shoes.
How much food is served on the tours?
There are 7 stops for food tastings on our tours. For most people there is enough food that lunch afterwards is not necessary.
Are there any beverages served on the tour?
Two of our tastings do include a beverage, including an alcoholic beverage tasting for those 21 and older. We do however encourage participants to bring along a bottle of water, and don't forget to bring your ID in order to participate in the alcohol tasting. Please notify us when purchasing your ticket if yourself or members of your party are not 21 or you would prefer an alternative to the beer tasting.
Where does the tour begin and end?
The tour ends across the street from the starting location.
Does this tour have anything to offer a native Fredericktonian?
Absolutely! We strongly encourage locals to attend and learn a little more about the city they live in, or just come and enjoy some food from their favorite restaurants in a new and unique way.
Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Yes. Cameras are allowed during the tour. We strongly encourage participants to take photos during the tour.
Are tours offered only in English?
Yes, we are only able to offer tours in English at this time. If you would like to make arrangements for your own interpreter to join the tour, please contact us by clicking "Contact TsteFredrick" to the left of the page.
Is the tour wheelchair and stroller accessible?
Most of the tour is accessible, but please keep in mind that some stops have a few steps at their entrances. For most of these stops, the guide would be happy to bring out the tasting and provide the information while outside for those that cannot enter. Please note, however, there is one tasting that includes an demonstration that can only be done inside.
Can I shop on the tour?
We ask that you wait to shop until after the tour so that we can stay on schedule and continue with the tour and food tastings in a timely manner. We strongly suggest you allow time at the end of the tour to return to your favorite locations.
Are bathrooms available during the tour?
Yes, bathrooms are available during the tour at select food-tasting locations.
Are tour guide gratuities included in the price?

Are tours pet friendly?
