Silent as a whisper, the electric powered Selkie II glides across the water.  Explore with us the natural wonders of the Elkhorn Slough as we observe rare Southern Sea Otters, Harbor Seals and hundreds of species of birds.
Elkhorn Slough is one of the premier bird watching sites in the western United States. More than 340 species visit or find permanent refuge here, a remarkable number given the slough’s relatively small size. This roster of birds includes several rare and endangered species, such as the Brown Pelican, Black Bellied Plover, and Peregrine Falcon. The tremendous number and variety of birds at the slough attracts thousands of bird watchers from across the country each year.
Captain Brian Ackerman, a life-long waterman has over twenty years of experience operating oceanographic research vessels for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and has lived in Moss Landing since 1985. Join him as he guides you through the natural beauty of the Elkhorn Slough.
Selkie II is comfortable and elegant and her electric propulsion allows her to glide across the water in near silence. Wildlife is not startled and you soon feel that you are one with the environment.
So bring a picnic or allow us to cater a special snack as we explore the Monterey Bay's great hidden jewel.

Fantastic from start to finish. Guide/owner is pleasant, knowledgeable, personable. The business side runs seamlessly. The boat is quiet, spacious and immaculate. I have been on the slough in kayaks and on land, but being in an electric covered small boat with a guide provided me a unique chance for peaceful viewing, education, and excellent birdwatching and photographic opportunities

We were a group of 4, 2 locals and 2 friends from the midwest. We all really enjoyed the tour. The setting was beautiful and we saw lots of interesting wildlife. Captain Brian was the perfect mix of facts and good conversation. The boat was very comfortable. It's an activity we plan to have on the agenda for future guests.

Relaxing tour of the slough w/ knowledgeable guide

We've toured with Whisper Charters twice. Both of the captains are knowledgeable of the local history, ecology and wildlife. We've lived here for ten years, and have spent a lot of time on Elkhorn Slough, but both times we've come away with new information and insight.

Whisper Charters is a great way to get close to the birds, seals and otters on the slough without having to paddle yourself around in a kayak.
