Whisper Charters

Zerve Seller: Whisper

Silent as a whisper, the electric powered Selkie II glides across the water.  Explore with us the natural wonders of the Elkhorn Slough as we observe rare Southern Sea Otters, Harbor Seals and hundreds of species of birds.
Elkhorn Slough is one of the premier bird watching sites in the western United States. More than 340 species visit or find permanent refuge here, a remarkable number given the slough’s relatively small size. This roster of birds includes several rare and endangered species, such as the Brown Pelican, Black Bellied Plover, and Peregrine Falcon. The tremendous number and variety of birds at the slough attracts thousands of bird watchers from across the country each year.
Captain Brian Ackerman, a life-long waterman has over twenty years of experience operating oceanographic research vessels for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and has lived in Moss Landing since 1985. Join him as he guides you through the natural beauty of the Elkhorn Slough.
Selkie II is comfortable and elegant and her electric propulsion allows her to glide across the water in near silence. Wildlife is not startled and you soon feel that you are one with the environment.
So bring a picnic or allow us to cater a special snack as we explore the Monterey Bay's great hidden jewel.

I have been on this tour four times, taking various friends and family when they visit and I always am amazed and learn new things. This is truly the best way to experience sea otters and the local area. The boats are comfortable and quiet and pet friendly! The captain both knows the area so well and respects the wildlife so you will get the best trip possible.

We enjoyed our first trip up the Elkhorn Slough so much we booked another trip so we could bring some other family members. Both trips were wonderful with sightings of many, many otters, seals, sea lions and sea birds. Captain Brian is so knowledgable and taught us a lot about all the animals and birds we saw.

We highly recommend this trip. The boat is comfortable and quiet and you'll see lots of wonderful wildlife is their natural environment.
