Silent as a whisper, the electric powered Selkie II glides across the water.  Explore with us the natural wonders of the Elkhorn Slough as we observe rare Southern Sea Otters, Harbor Seals and hundreds of species of birds.
Elkhorn Slough is one of the premier bird watching sites in the western United States. More than 340 species visit or find permanent refuge here, a remarkable number given the slough’s relatively small size. This roster of birds includes several rare and endangered species, such as the Brown Pelican, Black Bellied Plover, and Peregrine Falcon. The tremendous number and variety of birds at the slough attracts thousands of bird watchers from across the country each year.
Captain Brian Ackerman, a life-long waterman has over twenty years of experience operating oceanographic research vessels for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and has lived in Moss Landing since 1985. Join him as he guides you through the natural beauty of the Elkhorn Slough.
Selkie II is comfortable and elegant and her electric propulsion allows her to glide across the water in near silence. Wildlife is not startled and you soon feel that you are one with the environment.
So bring a picnic or allow us to cater a special snack as we explore the Monterey Bay's great hidden jewel.

Great outdoor experience despite the rain
Sun, Mar 22  11:00 AM Female 60-69 Local Couple on a Date
Attended: Elkhorn Slough Nature Tour
Wildlife viewing did not disappoint: otters, pelicans by the dozen, and numerous birds. We learned an immense amount about the history of the slough and the environmental challenges to its continued health. Plan to go back at other times of the year, as the birds are always changing.

Lots of otters

Attended: Elkhorn Slough Nature Tour
Really nice and personable guides. Wilm knows a lot about the surrounding agriculture and its influence on the slough. Sometimes they took us too much away from the animal watching.

All in all a very pleasant experience, but (too) pricey!!

Really had lots of fun. The electric boat is fantastic as it allows you to get close to wildlife without alarming or disturbing them. Our Captain/Guide (Vim?) was really good. Laid back, easy to talk to and with a real affection for Elkhorn Slough. If you're looking to see the slough and get up close and personal with the otters and other wildlife this is the trip for you.
