The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is proud to present Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s world-famous home and architectural laboratory, offering guests the unique, immersive experience of a powerful and extremely personal National Historic Landmark.

Just minutes from downtown Scottsdale, Taliesin West is Frank Lloyd Wright’s desert masterpiece. In 1937, Wright and his apprentices built an architectural wonder out of the stone and sand that surrounded them in the Sonoran desert on the foothills of the McDowell Mountains. Many of those apprentices (“the Fellowship”) who worked and lived alongside Mr. Wright still live at Taliesin West, as do the current students and faculty of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture -- making Taliesin West an ongoing, vibrant community.

The Taliesin West experience is both immersive and powerful. Guests are fully welcomed into every room and space—nothing on the tour is behind ropes or under glass. The tours, which include such attractions as the Cabaret Theater, Music Pavilion, Garden Room, Desert Shelters, and Mr. Wright’s living quarters and private office, are filled with surprise, majestic views, and intimate interior details. Each tour inspires visitors with the innovative principles, beautiful creations, technological experiments, and unparalleled body of work of Frank Lloyd Wright. As a result, guests find the Taliesin West tour experience delightfully engaging and deeply relevant. While photos and descriptions may give you a hint of what’s in store, there is no substitute for experiencing it first-hand.

Come to Taliesin West and be inspired.

We took our tour with Skylar. Even though it was 110 on the day of the tour he was able to keep our interest with all the very intriguing information he gave. Even our 12 year old daughter loved the tour and was talking about it several days later. My husband is an architect and is a huge FLW fan. He was impressed with Skylar's tour and the fact that he was raised there as a small child.

The 1 1/2 hour guided tour covered everything you would need to see to capture the spirit of Wright's vision for Taliesin West. Our guide was very knowledgable and shared many stories from people she had met over the years who were interns or worked with F L Wright. This tour is well worth doing. The only warning I would have is that, even with "modern" AC, the house is warm/hot during a for Summer day!

Avoid at all costs in the summer months

I've resided in Arizona for 28 years and probably should have known better, however, I booked this tour for myself and a visiting friend at 11:00 a.m. in June. For some reason, the docent felt compelled to stand in the hot sun and give her talk. She then led the group into FLW's office which never cools down below 90 degrees. That would probably have been cool enough, but not after standing in the hot sun listening to a spiel. Forty-five minutes in, we left the tour. Taliesin is crazy for conducting these tours in the summer. I suppose the $28.00, plus tax ticket (AAA discount) is just too much for them to give up. Pretty unpleasant experience. The tour itself (and we were there for only 45 minutes) was not very interesting. Meh. Wish I could get our money back.

Pat was our guide and she was excellent. Knowledgeable, informative and had a pleasant demeanor. Her challenge as well as ours was a couple with two small children, maybe 1 1/2 and 4.

Kids are kids and it was a 90 minute tour in 100+ temps. They were hot, hungry, tired, cranky and disruptive to the tour.

My suggestion is to do what Kartchner Caverns does....set an age limit for children. The parents were self absorbed and regardless of how many hints and comments Pat directed at them, they would not take their children away from the group until they composed themselves.

I need a license to own a dog....but anyone can be a parent.

Great piece of architecture, weak tour

Wanted to hear details about the building - story behind its construction, how it was lived in etc.

Instead, we got a two hour lecture on how great FLW was, how much above the rest of humanity he was, and how the world didn't get him

We also spent more time than was necessary standing outside in blistering heat. Considering what we paid, we were really disappointed
